Just a heads up for the newbies, don't skip the fit test before you start. I did and it wasn't worth it. If you need to develop to meet the minimum suggested levels, the two bonus workouts in the pack are ideal for this. It's well worth a week or so building up - you'll progress much faster.
Thanks, not received my DVD's yet but had originally planned to skip this test completely. I also need to get some before pictures for inspiration! Edited to add: Just turned 40 this year

You may not need it and unless you're a complete tubber, it's not that hard but there are a few things that will make the difference.Edited to add: Just turned 40 this year

Belated happy 40th by the way. Welcome to the dark side! - rest easy though because do this, and you'll be fitter at 41 than you were at 40!

If you haven't started anything, why not try this: http://www.6weeksixpack.com/
Would be interested to see the results; it's a similar routine to P90X. No need to give the guy money.</tightwad>
Have you done it? looks a bit to good to be true. Would be interested to see the results; it's a similar routine to P90X. No need to give the guy money.</tightwad>
I've adapted my weekly routine massively to take on board what he's teaching. He's aimed it at beginners and as I'd been training seriously for about a year, didn't want to take it easy by following his course to the letter. Point is, I understand why what he's saying works. I've also been helping others basing my advice on what he's getting people to do and they've experienced positive changes.

I have had a look at this and it doesn't look that bad. However, the thing about P90X is that's it not just an exercise programme but a nutrition guide and provides a lot of mindset training too. Personally, I find Tony Horton both motivational and quite entertaining which makes putting on the DVD something to look forward to rather than a 'have to' kind of thing - and the message board and forum support is excellent as well.

I agree I've have the programme downloaded for some time now. I'm doing Insanity at the minute. Today is prep day for me! Wife and I are going to watch all the intro DVD today and go through all of the books. We start tomorrow!
I still need to dig out the yoga mat, potentially a trip to somewhere like sports direct for another though.
It is good to have a training partner but you will need a lot of space to train together. I still need to dig out the yoga mat, potentially a trip to somewhere like sports direct for another though.

My P90X pack has arrived
The DVD's don't work on PS3
I'll have to wait until the weekend now before I can get to my laptop and 'rip' them, then transfer them to my tablet
DVDs are set to region '0' so should work any any normal DVD player - even a cheapy from Asda. The DVD's don't work on PS3
I'll have to wait until the weekend now before I can get to my laptop and 'rip' them, then transfer them to my tablet
Won't work on any blu-ray based device.

The rest of the 'paraphernalia' looks interesting.
How's everyone getting on? My DVD's still haven't arrived - seems a cock up by Beachbody, hopefully will be here this week.
Stumbled across this site which may help us in the UK.

Well, first night last night!
Chest and back wasn't too bad, I'm rubbish at pressups though so a lot of work to do there. (Military ones were almost impossible!)
AbRipperX was damn hard though. It was pretty embarrassing how bad I was! It seems I've got strength to lift my upper body, but to lift the legs and do a lot of those moves was VERY difficult.
Still, that's what it's about! My Wife is still keen too and we're quite looking forward to Plyo tonight.
The diet is still going well, sticking to around 1500 calories is surprisingly easy and I'm noticing clothes being looser already.

Ah, the other thing I wanted some advice on is recovery drinks.
We have a very healthy diet (I just used to eat too much!) so I was a little cynical to needing anything like that. But after last night, it's shown me that I would benefit from it. We will be exercising after we've eaten dinner so no meal to fill up on after training.
What would people recommend in terms of a good recovery drink? I even read stuff about Chocolate milk being good!

I have a protien shake after each workout and bcaa is good to help reduce stiffness and pains.
