Being fat makes you stupid. It's a fact...

Of course, but I could go on for years. I'm currently in the process of a YT rip of "fk off I'm fat". Should be pretty funny, to appropriately proportioned people.
So for taking the p out of someone with a problem that is entirely their own fault and saving humanity by being cruel to be kind, Karma should strike me down with a mortal injury or terminal disease? That sounds a bit like an unfair deal. Should I blame that perception on the unbalanced acceptance of obesity as well?

Most of what he has said was very much tongue in cheek (or at least that's how I read it).
Being fat is in nearly every case a self inflicted injury (with the exception of the 0.5% of folk who have genuine medical conditions). I can say this as someone who went through a period of being a fatty before I learn't to stop lying to myself and start being honest about why I was a fatty.

tongue in cheek stuff (I hope!!)
You are setting yourself up nicely for a karma induced stroke/heart attack/bout of cancer there me old fruit. Happens to the fittest and strongest of us and can strike at any time.Chunky people are a bit like smokers. They obvisouly consume more and thus pay more into the system, generally speaking.
There are whole industries and parts of the medical profession that would disappear overnight if all the chubbers got eaten by lions.
Swings and roundabouts.

I have been there like yourself and quite a few members on this forum, this thread and the rant in particular is a bit crap IMO. and poor taste when there are people trying to make a change.
Calling fat people stupid and then ranting about them as he did was odd considering his profession, a shame really as his posts are usually very good.

How long have you been mocking fat people ?
Mattikake :
At 36yo I had a 36in chunky belly with love handles, <13in biceps, 36in chest. I was biking >50km a week and killing myself in the gym. From 30yo onwards I was slowly watching the fat increase despite my efforts.
At 38yo I now have a <32in waist, >14in biceps, 40in chest, and a 6-pack (if I wax ). I walk 30km a week and work half as hard in the gym. I'm now exactly how I want to be and am in the happy place of "maintenance". This means I can indulge in any foods and be lax in exercise.
The difference? Knowledge and the will to implement it. Eating properly, exercising properly, and integrating both properly.
Sorting yourself out can be done. All you have to do is want it more than whatever your current indulgences are and only make a few sacrifices here and there.
Hummm... few similarities there... care to share what program worked for you? Mattikake :

He even clenches in his sleep, dreaming of fat sheep, or birds or...
The vast majority of people could choose not to be fat, and I would strongly encourage them to do so. I just don't see it a moral issue, or justification for being cruel to them. If someone makes an informed choice of a lifestyle which has the side effect of being fat, as far as I'm concerned that's their business. I think it's a bad choice, but so be it.
I can't help feel that for many people it's just the last remaining group they feel allowed to be a dick towards, now that it's socially unacceptable to rip on the blacks, gays and disabled. I just question why they need to be like that with anyone - does it make them feel better about themselves, or reinforce their belief that their own choices are the best?

Matticake's self- help clinic, 'Stupid Fat tts Anonymous' - round circle time: "I used to be a disabled, benefit scrounging, gay, glasses wearing, ginger, single parent chav and things were fine... but, then I got fat and society turned on me. It's so sad to be hated by everyone not stupid.I can't help feel that for many people it's just the last remaining group they feel allowed to be a dick towards, now that it's socially unacceptable to rip on the blacks, gays and disabled. just coming back to the vry original point
i'm fat, but consdiered sharp in business sectors.
there is a definite correlation between the ingestion of refined cane sugar and how alert i am. No sugar= quite alert.
For being someone quite sharp, it took me a while to figure this out.
as to the reasons of being fat- had a couple of years of emotional and medical difficulty where i stopped exercising but kept eating at the same rate because i found comfort in it. I went from 18stone (and very fit) to 24 stone and very unfit. It was a very bad choice. It was ebntirely my fault. I wish i had not allowed it happen (almost on a per minute basis)- and not because of what others think, but because i feel ugly, i've lost some confidance, i'm putting my families future at risk, and i'm not as succesful as i would be if i was fit and attractive (the truth is you are judged on appearances, and my current appearance isn't good).
it is HARD to get back to where i should be. it is easier to work 90hours a week, than find the 10 hours a week to go the gym. i have no excuses for this, and despise myself because of it.

Fortunately I can find the funny side in most things, even if it is irony.
My profession is the one and only reason I pulled it. If it wasn't for that, it would've remained. Don't tolerate something for fear of hurting someone's feelings. Tolerate something for a sound civilisational reason. I mean, do people think it's ok that the future of humanity is to end up like those in Wall-E?
btw, I did pull the post before any references were made to Hitler.
It is hard to get the exact tone of how people are posting rather than face to face, that said I find this thread and the rant pretty crap. It comes across as elitist and arrogant, odd seeing as your posts are usually helpful and friendly.
I agree that obesity needs to be stopped, it is a big problem getting bigger. Education and guidance is what is needed but what chance do we have when parents complain after their kids are measured as obese or when Jamie Oliver can't even get basic food changes into school !
I think this thread was always going to offend, using words like disgusting, useless, waste, etc is not all okay because you put a wink at the end.
