fking fking fk-st arespiece of a fking allergy.

After waiting the the end of June for some nice weather, I'm rendered housebound and entirely unable to enjoy the weather for more than 10 minutes at a time because of this bd.

I've tried all the prescribable pills and the only one that worked a tiny bit was Piriton - but it just knocked me out by the afternoon and with me.working backshifts its not ideal.

Pain in the fking arse.

The doctor says there's an injection but because I'm still young and in good health with no athsma or anything, it'll be a very long wait till I'm allowed to get it.

I'm off to shout at some more objects around the house. Thanks for listening.

Am suffering big style too and so is the bird.

Worse this year than at least the last 10. Any ideas what's made it this much worse? The rain?

I would imagine its because, at least where i am its the first dry spell in a while, so many plants are producing pollen, which they haven't earlier in the year.

To be honest, that sounds like the sort of cruel fking joke mothernature would pull.

After pishing down for the past 2 months and giving us all the cold, it would be really funny to make all the bd plants spout all the pollen and give everybody the hay fever.

I have suffered with hayfever for the last three years, and this year is definitely the worst if the three. I feel your pain, its horrible.

You need to speak to your GP and get a Kenalog injection, it worked for me. I have grown out of hayfever now but when it was bad back in the day I would get the injection in May and it would last the whole season without having to take any tablets etc. However it hard to get as there are dodgy side effect apparently.

Beconase nasal spray is the only thing that stops my hay fever, although I still get some eye-itchiness when the pollen count is really high.

It's worth its weight in gold that stuff!

Im having the best year for a long time. However today has been the worst of the year for me. I can't understand it everyone seems to be saying this year is really bad but I've gone from normally being really bad to pretty much a few sneezes etc so far.

Maybe I'm growing out of it or something.

A combination of beconase nasal spray and Optrex eye drops, seem to work quite well. The eye drops do a good job to take the itching away!

Have you tried Telfast? It is the only antihistamine that works for well for me without afternoon tiredness being an issue.

For the last couple of years I've been fine, to the extent that I hoped I'd grown out of it.

A quick trip back to the UK last month proved otherwise though.... it is very bad this year and I'm glad to be in the desert... thankfully sand fever hasn't happened yet!

Piriton and Beconase were my saviours a few years ago.

I use the Beconase spray, various tablets, and that Lloyds Allergy thing they had on sale last year, uses infrared or something snazzy for 3 minutes a day in your nose.

Seems to have worked so far!

Having a nightmare this year again, this is the 4th year on the trot. From the end of May to early September is pure misery for me. Got a maximum of 2-3 hours sleep last night in between sneezing, blowing nose, coughing, wheezing etc Its driving the Mrs mad, despite still having sympathy, the lack of sleep is starting to take its toll for her too.
I have tried everything the doctors can offer in terms of tablets, sprays, eye drops, optrex, inhalers. None of the tablets i have tried this year seem to do anything, last year cetrizine worked for me but not this year confused

Prescribed eye drops are ok but the optrex itchy eyes are the best for me. Optrex eye bath is essential daily. Inhaler is required every night before bed or i dont sleep. Beconase and sudafed sprays are ok if you can actaully get your passages to communicate, which is hard when you are heavily bunged up.

Someone recommended going the homeopathic route, which i never even thought about but not sure how to go about it or if its even worth looking in to....

I hate summer

As others have said, Beconase, formerly prescription only has stopped me from being housebound in the summer since the mid 80s. I'm normally on it from April but this year I have hardly had any symptoms but seeing as the weather was about to improve I have started taking it again.

You have to take it for 3 days before it starts working properly. I can now stand in a field of rapeseed with just a bit of itchiness in my eyes.

I used to get it, but haven't had any in the last couple of years and my Dad is the same.

When I did get it, I found that the tablets from Tesco (Lortadine I think?) worked very well.

If you really want to go extreme - some Vaseline up your nose works well too if all else fails!
