I am also going to try 30 minutes of HIIT on the OH's exercise bike on my non-lifting weekdays.

ETA Just checked my mail - Thanks for the routine Hoofy. Do you recommend that everyday or just on non-lifting days?
It's so short and quick you can do it after lifting.

I kind of do this to the extent I eat high carbs or try to after intense workout and lay off carbs on a night (just get carbs in at lunch) on days off.

Sounds like you are doing carb backloading. Carb cycling is based on a week (or whatever) cycle. IF is daily is it not?

Not really. What I mean by that is I don't eat white bread, pasta e.t.c.

Proper carb cycling looks like a total ball ache to me. It involves keeping track of how many grams per day and then tapering them up and down. It's not for me.

Intermittant fasting is entirely different. Basically eating for 8 hours a day and fasting for the other 16.

I've followed Tim's advice in a few areas with success, but not tried his Geek to Freak for putting on lean muscle.

What's the views here? Appreciate his results have come under a lot of criticism as to whether they're real or not.

For lunch you have 2-3 TURKEY breasts? Surely not, that would take some eating...
Sorry I should have clarified this - 2-3 turkey breast steaks (I just buy a big pack from the supermarket) so maybe 150 - 200g turkey. So much cheaper than chicken too!

Turkey is cheaper for the same weight of meat, but a turkey costs more than a chicken because turkeys are bigger.

Sounds like you are doing carb backloading. Carb cycling is based on a week (or whatever) cycle. IF is daily is it not?
Laying off carbs at night? That is precisely not carb backloading.

The transformation posted (34lbs in 4 weeks or whatever) involved a ton of drugs and is probably lying about the time frame.

Simply having high carbs post workout does not equate to carb-backloading. If he eats little to no carbs pre-workout then it might be so. No one would eat carbs at lunchtime (training day or not) if carb-backloading. wink
