Looks like he has some sort of disease.

Reminds me of that body-builder and his silly arms.

Manfred Hoeberl?

Yep, Greipal, biggest legs in road cycling and Robert Forstemann, biggest legs in track cycling.

Interesting why this doesnt happen in other sports. Rowers dont get (very) big arms/back for example.

They arent doing high reps in the gym....my old training partner is the GB sprint coach - lot of very low (1 rep max stuff) goes on in the squat rack.

Lol, no one gets that big naturally. At some point, they've done gear.

I thinking something else must be going on there. Powerlifters/weightlifters/strongmen don't have such out of proportion legs, and those three groups have the strongest legs in the world.

Nah, the guy with the sick arms who then had to have them reduced because they were too big. 28 inch arms or something.

The frame could limit that? Quads have nothing boxing them in? Plus heavy squats are the biggest builder.

Oh yeah I do remember that guy actually - he was injecting directly into the bicep with some sort of steroid until they got infected and exploded with a load of puss, if I recall.

Gregg Valentino injecting synthol directly into his arms. Ironically, he actually had naturally big arms!

As someone who does a lot of cycling, I can categorically say that those thighs are a result of lots of fruit smoothies and plenty of sleep. smile

Sure about that?

I'm far from expert in what one might use to 'enhance' muscles in that way, but I'm generally aware that both natural and synthetic steroids are rigorously tested for, including in off-season, and relatively hard to disguise the use of...

the advancement of masking drugs is waaay ahead of test centres wink not saying this guy does them as some people are genetically gifted with certain body parts.

those quads are ludicrously freakish, reminds me of Tom Platz, completely out of proportion.

I took a picture of some woodwork I'd done yesterday, caught my legs in the shot & thought they looked stupid!

I never train my legs as a body part as they grow at ridiculous speed, they get enough from running & up n down ladders.

Rowing is a bit different in that it is considered an "endurance" event. Having the ability to put out HUGE power over a short space of time, like Hoy has to, is not so useful in an event lasting 2000m or between 5 and 7 minutes.

In rowing the muscles grow, but as a whole body sport, they tend to develop in better proportion too. That said, most rowers will struggle to get jeans that fit comfortably round their thighs, for instance.

speed skaters get the same thing as do other power biased sports that leave the top half redundant.
