My beard is growing very nicely. Some have said I've taken on the appearance of a mafia boss...others have suggested I look like Borat.

However whatever the appearance, after just under 5 weeks of growth, it needs a trim.

Can anyone suggest a good beard trimmer / device?

I've been using these Philips for the last few years. Recommended them to a few colleagues a few months ago and they've been happy with them too.

Ta! I'll check out prices in the high street later today.

On another totally unrelated topic. Happy 100th month at PH for me! More than 8 years on and I'm still here... wobble

Short update. Unfortunately since Gibraltar never has anything in stock, the Philips wasn't available but the chap there recommended a remington trimmer.

It was the same price at £40 plus it charges through a USB port which I thought could be handy when travelling.

Saying that, the reviews are pretty damn poor and I'm tempted to return it on that basis. The moment I open the box, I'm stuck with it. frown

Any one else here use a one of these Remington Touch beard trimmers?

I use the one below and have been very happy with it - powerful, does not tug, lasts a lot longer than other battery powered ones, and charges very quickly. Also seems to keep full power throughout the whole battery discharge, rather than other battery types which lose power gradually.

I use the one below, cheap as chips and does a good job plus feels comfortable to hold. You can use it with the guard off if you want to get really close.

I just use a set of cheepo babyliss hair clippers, keep them oiled and they're fine, only cost £15 too from boots.

In my experience they all miss odd hairs leaving you with stray long hairs or ones that have been half cut through but not completely severed, either that or I'm doing it all wrong.

Which is why you have scissors to pick off the odd strays.

Last night I used my Remington Touch beard trimmer. I actually have no idea why it has such a bad review since it worked brilliantly.

There was absolutely no pulling and left very few stray hairs to cut with scissors. The micro-adjustment was also very good and although people say the clips holding the attachment in place are very flimsy, they're obviously "doing it wrong" if they are pushing that hard against their face with the trimmer!

The trimmer itself has three speed settings and best of all, I can charge it on the go with any micro-USB cable. That makes it a winner while travelling!

Same. It's fantastic!! Gets close enough to not have to shave too.

Nice unit eh? I find its also safe enough to use without the guard if you want to get a little closer than the shortest guard setting of 0.4mm .
