Got the job and i have a month or two to wait till i start in a proper career. You can always change jobs hora, every new step is a positive or you can gleam a positive from. Oh and go out to a steakhouse and get a big ribeye + Chips I'd do anything legal for work. I'd work anywhere, even away. As long as its an honest company. I'm just stuck in a massive/deep rut and its all going horribly wrong.

Do you have any sleep issues as well, such as trouble getting off to sleep, waking up early, waking often during the night? It sounds like it could be anxiety related, which is something I've suffered from to varying degrees for a few years, but you really need to see a (decent) doctor to get a proper diagnosis.
When my symptoms were at their worst I struggled to eat anything other than very small amounts for about a month. What I found helped were things like Complan which were relatively easy to get down and provided a good level of nutrition. Oh, and I'd also echo the comments about cutting out the caffeine which isn't doing you any favours.
But the main thing is to get yourself to the docs as soon as. Oh, and book yourself a holiday!

Im only 22 and ive worked in this dead end cowboy engineering company for the past 6yrs from school. Over this time i have put up with; 3day weeks being used as a threat, being underpaid being the solution to being on a 5day week, favouritism, my boss promising me overtime then doing it himself and numerous other s t. It does get better, just need to dust yourself off and say f k you to your problems. Can you support your kids if you packed in now and went job hunting?

Also try to take each day as it comes, or maybe even a week, don't lose sleep over what MIGHT happen in four/five years time...
Planning ahead is good, but don't let it consume you.

hora said: The issue is our mortgage and nursery costs etc. Last Feb I was working in the UK but I took a job in Norway, leaving my wife and 3-week old behind on week-days so that I could pay the mortgage. It has been tough, very tough, but worth it in the long term. Hey, each to their own, I really hope you get sorted!

With respect, GB, I don't think packing in and looking for a new job is top priority here. Hora, you need to get eating again, fast. 'He lost his job because he starved to death because he was scared of losing his job' won't look too clever on your headstone. Have a word with yourself, start eating again, you'll feel a lot better very quickly, and then you can start going about changing the stuff that is making you unhappy, such as your job, but get yourself healthy first. All the best.

What do I need for viral??
Ps. My partner knows nothing of whats going on. She just thinks I'm ill but says 'you've never been like this before since I've known you'.
Why create more stress for someone else?

hora said: What do I need for viral?? Paracetamol, plenty of fluids, rest and time. There's no miracle cure. ETA: But it sounds to me (and I'm not a doctor) that there's more going on here than a virus which is why I suggest getting yourself to the doctor ASAP for a proper diagnosis.

Take some time off, your health is more important than pleasing your boss.

I am currently going through this myself, am on Anti depressants & sleeping tablets due to various things going on in my life (mainly work issues)
I have been eating one meal a day (usually cereal or Toast) for 3 weeks now & I have to force myself to eat. If it is due to stress i'm sorry to tell you it will probably happpen everytime you get stressed as it does with me.
Everyone reacts to stress in different ways, for me its losing my apetite
Good luck I know how horrible it is

If you have stomach cramps that stop you eating or drinking then I found that Buscopan cramps works well. I had fish food poisoning Tuesday morning and stomach was so painful - but these pills seem to fix things after 2 days.

Its not stomach cramps its queasiness. If I try to eat I just want to chuck non-stop so I don't bother. As I always look for a positive in everything, it will make me quicker/better on my mountain bike though.
My boss is very good - shes stuck by me (and I don't think I've ever had a bad boss) however the business can't 'carry' someone.

Why create more stress for someone else? Becuase it helps to talk about these things with someone that knows you and can help to change things. And even if she can't do anything practical to help, just releasing the pressure in you will be hugely beneficial. I'm sure she'd rather know what's bugging you as she probably thinks you're having an affair just now. Also, the fact you're not feeling able to talk to your missus about it seems another indicator to me that you're taking on this stressing and bottling it all inside yourself. Don't. We had a guy hang himself a few years back. Stressful times at work, went out and hung himself one morning before work. No-one had an idea he was at that stage, us at work, or his family. Don't be frightened of exposing yourself (ooo-err) to you missus. The next time she asks what's wrong just start the conversation with "Work's getting to me a bit..." , and then take it from there. Best of luck. Remember that no job is worth making yourself ill over, and there's always another job out there!

Sit yourself down for this one. Your Dr is right. Youve got a virus. Its completely normal for you to have a temp. The body turns up your temp to kill the virus. Normal. The Dr has prescibed you anibiotics, they all do that. Youre stressed out cos youre ill, so chill out. Relax fella, your body's taking care of things. Youre ill, not at the top of your game. Get over the virus, get 100% then deal with the work stuff its separate, and you cant deal with it till youre back to 100% Plenty of water is good. Tea and mcvities. two litres to three of liquid a day. Some soft fruits, melon, watermelon is good for a detox and it will clear out your bowels. Relax, bed, water rest. Stop stressing. Chillax till your better. F ck work. Theres plenty of summer bugs going round, your just going through it.

I do not want to alarm but I can kinda see how someone can get to that point. The fact that I can publically/say that out loud means I've still got my head above the water.

FFS book some time off work. You NEED to work out whether now is the time to find another job (easier said than done I know) or what you can do to stop this going too far.
