Well its going OK for now. Im not going to pour all the pepsi in the house down the drain so iv managed to cut down to one or two glasses in the day and while at work drinking nothing but water or flavoured water.
Got no silver you could polish with it?

Got ice at work? I don't know why. But it seems "nicer" with ice in.

Are you a chemist, Flibble?
No, why?
You just seem to know more about it than those that think sugar is addictive is an 'excuse'.
I have a casual interest in biochemistry and I read research rather than just going off daily mail style shock tactic websites.

Google Aspartame- enough said!
Horrid, horrid stuff!

IIRC, you can run your car on the stuff!
Rather your car than mine mate. You definitely cannot run a car on aspartame.

It's not particularly harmful for most people - it breaks down into amino acids (much like proteins do) and methanol. Methanol isn't particularly good for you but the amount of aspartame is so small it doesn't matter. The only people at risk are people with phenylketonuria since one of the amino acids produced is phenylalanine and those people lack the enzyme to digest properly. You'll know if you have that though as eating many protein sources will also cause the same effects.

Went over and see my dad last night, had 1 can of coke over the course of about 3 hours. So my run of 4 days comes to an end, but I've started again today. No intentions of any sort of fizzy drinks coming my way until probably next weekend, so 10 days or so. Over the last 4 days, I've not noticed any differences as such, no headaches or anything like that.

1) Most of what's written about Aspartame is regurgitating repeatedly discredited and disproven bunk which has spectacularly failed to stand up to repeated scientific scrutiny.

2) The woman responsible for that website makes a great deal of money selling quackery like hair analysis based diet advice and aspartame detox programmes to idiots willing to believe her special blend of quackery. She's about on par with the retards who buy and sell homeopathy crap, which she also does.

Believe what you like of course, but if you're a fan of her work you'll be over the moon when you discover Kent Hovind.

As I mentioned to Stu. The idea was to scare him away from fizzy drinks. Not give him a warm cosy feeling inside that it's all bunkum....

Well failed now though. hehe

I'm addicted to diet coke, I have my first at about 8.30am and will usually have between 8-10 cans/bottles a day.

I get it free at work which doesn't help.

I properly can't function without it

This thread really surprises me! Didnt realise people drank so many bottles of fizzy drink!

I only ever drink chilled water at work and lots of it. In the evenings I'll drink squash and sometimes a beer or wine with dinner. Probably have 1 or 2 500ml bottles of doctor pepper a week.

You're probably addicted to the caffeine, try cutting down slowly rather than going cold turkey on it.

Drink the sugar free fizzy drinks like I do. I get through 20 litres a week with no ill effects. smile
You drink NINE standard size cans worth of this crap a DAY?
I drink about 6 or 7 standard cans of pepsi max during the day and 2 litres of diet irn bru in the evening.

My health is perfect as are my teeth. There are a lot worse things you can do to yourself than drinking fizzy water with no added sugar!

From experience, don't just stop drinking fizzy drinks, as I did. Ween yourself off it if you can.

That probably works for some if you can't just cut it out immediately.
There's no reason to drink that poison everyday.biggrin

If you're drinking a lot of one of the caffeinated types you can get epic caffeine withdrawal symptoms. For most people it'll be a headache and irritability, usually goes away after a few days though. You could have a couple of cups of black coffee to give you the caffeine instead which might ease things a little.
