You can't go over the top - my last three weeks have been evidence of that.

I'd suggest the usual reccomended amount?

2500 calories for blokes.

Could be wrong though.

I find that I tend to eat "normally" on feast days. My appetite is largely unchanged, but I'm more concious of avoiding calorie rich food.

I'm not sure I've lost much this week, but did have to add a hole to my belt this morning.

When I took the pledge ginger beer was my first choice but it's packed with empty calories. Not seen a low/zero cal version either. frown

FWIW in my book that's more than 100% of the sugar I'm happy to consume. I try to keep it to zero, but sometimes it's pretty much unavoidable and still be sociable. Sugar like any starchy carb I try to avoid.

Just giving this a bump as considering taking it up.

First question. I'm assuming you can choose to either fast consecutive days, or two non-consecutive days during the week?

I'd hazzard a guess that fasting consecutive days might yield a slight increase in weight loss?

Been doing this with the wife for about 6 months now.
My fasting days are Monday and Thursday, after a big Sunday lunch it seems to level itself!

I have found what works for me is 2 boiled egg on 2 toast and tea for breakfast and then in the evening I either have a "prawn feast"(loads of prawns!) or fish in sauce. I might have some fruit if really feeling empty some evenings.

My body fat is now down from just into "overweight" AT 26/27 to the normal at around 22, and @ 11st 4lbs /5'7" and 52% water. Think Ive lost about 16 lbs and can fit in 32" trousers! Even might get into 30!

Also its advisable to have a break for a week or two as as I understand it your body slows the loses and by not fasting it kick starts the diet when you begin again.

I've been doing the 5/2 since January, mainly after reading a couple of threads on here and it's working really well for me. I'm a bit more active now also, walking a couple of miles a day and I've lost 17 lbs so far. Probably more importantly the change in body shape has been significant. I need to get some new clothes soon as everything is baggy on me now and I'm 2 belt notches in.

I do a Monday and Thursday, skip breakfast, have a light lunch (150 calories usually) then leave myself 450 for my evening meal. Some days seem harder than others but the thought of being able to eat normally the next day keeps me motivated.

I've still for about another stone to lose, then I plan to drop to 1 fasting day per week to maintain my weight.

Is anyone else still doing this on here? I'd be interested to know how people are doing. smile

I've been doing it for about 15 months. Weight is down from 94kg to 87kg, BF from 22% to 16%. It's now a reasonably well-entrenched habit, and although the numbers may not look impressive I'm reasonably pleased in the context of the amount of training I've not been doing in that time - and that I'm not scared of a beer, or of those pots of flapjack squares you can get on the motorway, or of the 8oz butter and 8oz sugar that went into the granola bars I made last week...

I fast on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Breakfast is two poached eggs plus some spinach on a single slice of toast, dinner is some combination of tuna/salmon/cod/chicken plus two boiled eggs on a bed of salad dressed with salt, black pepper and balsamic vinegar, or a heap of steamed veg with some chillies in it for interest. Lunch is skipped.

I suspect I'd have shed more/faster if I were more fastidious on non-fasting days, but I'm in no rush.
