What awful timing!

My brother's naval ship docks next week, been at sea since January. We were planning on gettin out kayaking and cycling lots over the next couple of weeks, then we're off to the Belgium and Italian Grand Prix.

Fingers crossed, see what the surgeon says at hospital in about an hours time.....

Had a hernia op a year or so ago which took me out of action for a few weeks during the summer. Such bad luck!!

Oof, bad timing indeed. If you're a reasonably quick healer, even if they take it out you might be OK by the end of a fortnight's time - they can do it through a very small incision sometimes.

Hope you're all sorted by now.

Nothing done so far. They say it's not that bad so wanted to keep me in for observation overnight. I think that was the worst nights sleep I've ever had! Let's see what today brings.

surprised you can even type if it is appendicitis...

Friend had a dull ache for a week that he thought was indigestion from too much beer and cycling, then it ruptured and in between blacking out from pain he managed to get an ambulance sorted.

Then it was 1 week in hospital after keyhole surgery, though suspect that was more due to the rupturing, plus side the fat git last 1 stone in weight.

He then had 2/3 weeks of light work (no cycling or lifting heavy stuff).

Well they ruled out appendicitis and sent me home yesterday afternoon. Been home since. They said it was most likely a bug which had caused my gut to swell and become tender. Actually felt good yesterday with very little pain. But it's hurting again today. Feel down and rough. Don't know what to do! Just sat in bed, again. Bored.

If the pain continues you must go back and get rechecked. Can you keep an eye on your temperature?

Hopefully it will mean you can now do some of those plans you have with your brother, so try not to feel too down, try and see the good that it's not a burst appendix. All the best for a speedy recovery.

Appendix is no longer tender and painful so that's good. The pain seems to be just under my ribs now, more of a gastric pain. My mum is a nurse and is coming over to check temp etc. I will go back to the gp tomorrow if I'm no better.

I thought I had appendicitis once - I was bent double with abdominal pain. It was utter agony. Then I did the most enormous fart ever and I was fine.

HTH.
