you didn't get the mail drop, or see the widely advertised televsion campaign?
To be fair it was right around the time we moved to 118 numbers so you may have confused the mail for more 192 to 118 junk mail.
Anyways
let's talk suplements?
I've recently invested in some creatine capsules to aid me in my quest, and after figuring out which end they go in (the mouth end, although they are so large they are easily mistaken for surpositories) I'm finding they seem to be working, although it may just be a mental thing.
I read somewhere (possibly here) that creatine is one of the few proven legal performance enhancers, is this right? Are all the other potions and capsules of things I can't pronounce mearly snake oil?
Or should I be taking, dexahydroglobin with my monosacurate fyloxin to aid me in my sports recovery.
Should I be injecting cylomisine into my glutes?
Or washing with caffeinated hydromaxine chlorate?
I Don't know!

Does anyone else find elevated calf raises give by far the most painful burn? 30 reps with 110kg on the bar takes about 10 seconds for the intense burn to go away.

I'm no expert but I find it helps to look above horizontal to avoid arching the back IYSWIM. Also, try visualising pushing with the heels. And dragging the bar up your shins.

Good advice. Your body follows your head so if you look down your back will arch.

Start off with just the bar and concentrate on technique. Once you're using weight, make sure you let the weights rest on the floor or it's not a full rep.

I'm going to get in on this. Will take some pictures later and get them up. I've spent the last 6 months or so making a reasonable effort to get fit again. Have dropped about 5 kilos from 93 down to 88 and my half marathon time is finally below 2 hours. Would like to make a good go of it and really get into shape and get my running times down even further.

Got a few ideas for programmes which I plan to put together tonight and work out a decent routine.

Good luck all.

I've just posted on the main thread for the first time.

After a brief look at things etc, it seems that i've got to get between 160g-250g of protein and at least 320g of carbs into me everyday to start shaping up nicely. (Currently weigh 73kg)

I'm going to try USN's hyperbolic mass as it has a decent amount of protein in it.

If anyone has any diet plan tips/website etc to work these bits out, that would be great!

So how do you boys initiate one another around here, rub lotion into each others inner thighs?

Edit; probably going to try glutamine. Already started the creatine.

Now then chaps im back on it to a certain extent and really enjoying it. It feels like a age ive been waiting to get back training. Just a couple of slow runs last week just to break myself in again they were dam hard work.

Anyway jumped on the scales yesterday to find something interesting and possibly explain what happend to me. The last 6 months or so of hardly training at all the old belly has grown and i have a little more fat on my face. I thought id maybe put on 0.5 - 0.75 stone. However im still the same weight as i was when i was working out 6 / 7 sessions a week.

On the last winter transformation my weight dropped to 13st and then stopped loosing, no matter what i did it just stayed the same. However i was slowly loosing chubber. It was doing my head in for months and i couldnt get my head round it at all.

Am i correct in saying i must of been building muscle + loosing fat which is why the weight didnt move and the opposite has happened now ?.

Yep! I say ignore the scales and look at the mirror and/or your belt holes.

My scales haven't moved much over the last 4 weeks but my jeans now have room to spare around the waistband, especially first thing. My stomach is now pretty much flat in the mornings but after a few meals it bloats out. I'm hoping that will reduce as my abs become stronger & tighter.

Agreed.

I think measuring weight for folks who are doing weight training is quite pointless.

If you are in a high tech gym they may have some sophisticated equipment or calipers to measure bodyfat with.

Personally I use pictures and body measurements, although calipers are obviously more accurate.

I like body measurements as it shows when muscles are growing and I like pictures as I find the changes to be motivating.

Im sort of happy with that then. At least i no what i was doing before must of been working. At the time i was pretty frustrated as it didnt feel i was getting anywhere at all. Putting in all the gard work etc for sod all.

Its great to be back at it now and have sore muscles again i kinda like that for some reason as long as im not really really sore lol.

I was up slightly earlier this morning to do my cardio as I needed to be in the office early and it was superb. Temperature was in the low 30s (we're still hitting 40s with high humidity during the day), low humidity and the sun was not long over the horizon. Think I'll switch to the ealier time permanently - even just half an hour made a nice difference.

You're in Dubai arn't you Asterix? (I'm pretty sure I recall that from your comments about lag in the BF3 thread!) What's that temperature like for running?

I only ask as not being the most well-travelled of people I've never ran in anything other than our usual damp English climate- but I found some of the hot days running in the (non aircon) gym over the summer seriously trying- mentally as much as physically!

Edited: I never thought to check your location on your profile...

Yes mate - Dubai for nearly ten years now.

Obviously, it's damn hot during the summer. From May through to around now the temps are constantly in the 40, reaching the 50s in July & August (although they don't like to admit that it gets over 50 as the law states that all outside work has to halt and that would mean the poor bds building 'the dream' could down tools). Only the commited are out running and only very early in the morning. September and October start to cool off a bit but the real killer is the humidity that kicks in. It's unbearable from the afternoon onwards. Towards the end of October it starts to get nice and then you're fine all the way through to April/May again.

The gyms are all A/Ced so that's fine but you can find that the low oxygen content in the air from the heat (less dense air) can affect things.
