Also, don't forget, it's not about running faster than a bear. It's about running faster than just one other person in the group you're with... True story.
Or about throwing the Girlyman in the group to the bear, would that be you or Hoofy?biggrin
Let me hold your pink dumbbells while you decide.

Been 6 weeks since I started personal training, so had my midway review:
I've lost:
10cm round my hips
6cm round my belly button

biceps stayed the same at 37cm and I'm no taller
I weigh 97.5kg this morning, put down to the creatine loading phase as I was 95.1kg before I started it

my pushups have increased from 34 in 60 seconds to 45
my wallsit is up from 30 seconds to 63

I did thefix events Richmond park 5k on Saturday morning in 32:36. It's unreal how difficult throwing in some uphills makes it, but I think that was a fairly decent time for a big guy.

I'm still not happy with the ammount of flab round my belly, but at least my moobs are slowly dissapearing.
I've cut my calories to 1900 in an attempt to lose a little more round the belly.

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

The lower your weight, the slower the loss. Keep chiseling at it but resist the temptation to aim for something like 1000 calories a day as that can have the wrong effect. Also look at changing all your exercises (or "changing up" as Americans call it) to HIIT or similar.

Oh, it's me for sure. I'm a shade under 11 stone, so easily chuckable and it took me ten minutes to walk a quarter of a mile last night. I'm bear snack material and no doubt.

Sushi, good work. One thing I would say is don't focus on too much at once. If the primary goal is still weight loss, but you're pushing for heavier lifts too, you may find both difficult. That was my experience last time around, so I focussed on the loss to really accelarate that process. Whatever, keep it up. You're an inspiration.

I'm 10.5 stone, fatty. However, I'll still leave you to the hungry bear, though, as I am a fairly good climber. Since bears st in woods and the Pope is Catholic, there will be trees nearby.

Is that in total or just what you have lost in the 6 week of PT ?

Either way your doing well and your obv going in the right direction. I found the flab loss slowed right down when i got to a certain point and my weight didnt change. Forget how heavy you are go off how you look, clothes fit etc.

As for the park run just keep running but if you train run further than 5k your times will fall pretty quickly i bet.

That loss is in the 6 weeks I've been doing PT.

I realised flab loss would slow, and I guess I am still kind of happy with where I am size wise, I just wish the belly would go quicker, even though it took 10 years to get that big. I'm just impatient.

I can see a real difference in my chest/shoulders and arms now, as well as my back. If I can convince the wife it's not to weird I might get her to take some pics so I can upload.

me: "here just take some pictures of me flexing my stuff"
her: "what for?"
me: "So I can post it up on the internet on some car forum"

seems legit.

Apologies for not posting.

Since posting I haven't even managed to get to the gym. 6 day weeks of 14 hour days and sleeping at work has meant, er, i've been rather busy.

I feel like i've let the team down, believe it or not! Ha.

Desperate to get to the gym now.

Hopefully Thursday, otherwise it's next week.

We all would rather hit our goals now. Sadly, the body isn't like that.

After a decadent weekend with an old mate, and far too much pizza and chips, plus the niggles from the long run easing out, I'm back into a proper full body routine. I'm really looking forward to getting back to exercise. It's been annoying as hell waiting for the pains to ease out!

I've noticed the climbing has added core strength without my really realising, but lifting even a light bar for the first time was interesting! No post workout pain though, so must need to work harder!

Since the transformation thing started I've been trying my hand at doing wieghts in the gym. From my first night going and being knackered out just benchpressing the bar, I managed to do my first 5x5 of 50kg plus the 20kg bar last night.

Does feel good to make a little progress even if the weights are tiny to most!

My squats have gone from not being able to do them at all to 40kg of plates. Not great but I don't feel completely comfortable with them yet!

Really enjoying it now, my weight hasn't really changed much at all but my body is slowly changing and given the right lighting, it looks like I have some muscles (i have to look quite hard) haha

Well, since the end of July I've now lost 15kg or 2st 7lbs!

My fatty jeans have been retired and I'm now fishing the smaller ones out of the wardrobe. I've even bought some new, smaller jeans!

One question for people though, Whilst I can now get into a 36" waist and do them up, everything is still far too tight around the thighs. I've lost quite a bit on my legs but they are generally large anyway!

If anyone else has this issue I'd be keen to know what jeans you buy?

32' waist? Cripes!
I'm concerned about my 34" expanding girth but thirty two feet? hehe

Gotcha. Again.

My training is going well. I'm training 4/5 times a week doing a mixture of strength and hypertrophy. I'm doing a slow bulk using intermittent fasting and it's working very well. Slow increase in weight as well as strength increasing almost every session. My next aim is body weight military press. I managed 85kg for the first time ever last week, but when I tried bodyweight/87.5 I nearly passed out. Ooops.

I'm starting a 5 day split workout next week as I've been doing my current one for about 6 weeks.

My training is/was going well until this weekend just gone. As it was my birthday I've had a couple of meals out so now getting back on track. Only couple of weeks in but starting to feel stronger and better about myself. Will update soon on my gains and improvements.

Yup im the same mate its a feckin mere. I was fine when boot cut type stuff was the fashion but now i have no chance. Last time i was looking no chance in the world you could find a 'brand' name to fit. I ended up getting straight cut but the waist is huge grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Im the same with T shirts either fit my shoulders and huge everywhere else or the other way around. Actually just bought a Nike T shirt for the gym thats probably the best fit of all the tops i have.

Im back into the swing of training and loving it.

Just light with the weights so far to ease myself back in but enjoying it all the same. The Gym im going now is much better and has free weights so its a case of learning how to use them correctly

Managed to deadlift 100kg this weekend for 8 reps...think I may have overdone it though as I'm walking like an eighty year old man now. I think if I stopped after 4 Id've been ok, but I kept pushing and my form went out the window. Oh well, I've moved my PT session form tomorrow morning to thursday to give me some recovery time.
On a better note, I've discovered weighted calf raises, damn they burn.
I've put an updated picture up on the pics thread.
How's everyone else getting on?

Im loving it - Smashing the gym and swimming at the moment.

Slowly learning about free weights i think thats going to take a while. Im finding it a little strange at the moment tbh

For eg normally for chest id use a bench press machine + peck deck normally feel sore after feel like its done something. However since using the weights im working the chest bench press, incline dunbell press and flat flys and incline flys but dont seem to feel it as much. I must be doing something wrong.
