Done some googling but no definite answers so going to ask PH instead biggrin
just over a fortnight ago i picked up a back injury from dead lifting; nothing was different except i wasn't really in the mood....
I felt like something was trying to push out when i was dead lifting but ignored it for the first couple of sets, when i went to go heavier i gave in to the pain and went to do other exercises instead. The problem im having is that while on somedays i can pick household objects up, others i cant. Certain angles when leaning over seem to set it off too.
My job as security requires me to need my back and as im not contracted i dont get sick pay frown
I cant squat as that sets it off. I've tried dead lifting lightly again but after a few sets that sets of the pain again.
I wouldn't be complaining but i was wanting to do strongman competitions next year and i dont need set backs like this!

I have tried foam rollers which puts me in immense pain!
Have tried hot and cold, deep heat/deep freeze but just numbs it for a few hours
Have had lots of massages of my lovely OH which are great hehe but not solving it as yet frown

Haven't tried GP or hospital as i feel as though i will be turned round and told to rest! frown
Any suggestions?
Any one been through similar?

The pain comes from the lower left of my back, but no lumps or anything out of the ordinary? (did get a massive 'knot' out though from the massage which relieved a fair bit of pain smile)
Oh and sorry for the long post

I had a pain like this last year doing some heavy squats. Wasn't in mood either! Went to a chiro who got me sorted. I'm just careful with back stuff now. Not trying to blast it like a young fella!

Could i ask, were you wearing a weightbelt whilst doing the deadlifts and what weight did you injure yourself with compare to your 1 rep max?

Nope i cant wear them! Couldnt pick up 100kg with one on. Really weird- was looking to get a (cant think of name) material type belt rather than leather.
My 1RM is about 190kg and i did it on a warm up set of 120kg

Just as an update incase anyone cares hehe the medication is working wonders! Back is much better so hopefully ill be lifting again in 4 weeks

People always think that it's the big, heavy pulls where you get injured but have heard just as many stories of big guys tearing muscles and hurting themselves on the warm ups lol.

I use a leather belt, need a smaller one as its not tight enough anymore, and it is a lot more comfortable, definitely feel so much more confident dead lifting with a belt than without.

You can injure yourself with the smallest of weights hehe
Ive tried a leather belt but the front were you tighten it up really hurt and took my breath away when going down to lift, ive never used any aids except straps (not for deadlifts though) and feel more confident knowing i dont need them smile

You get used to it digging in a little at front when you bend over, i don't notice it all anymore but that might be because i need a smaller belt to get it tighter with me losing a bit of my spare wheel. I also use straps as my grip starts to cause me problems after 140kg.

Yeh im just sticking to the basis that if i didnt learn with it i dont need it. However im going to reconsider a belt now av fooked me back.
Do you use hand over grip or one hand over one hand under? (If you get me smile)
