Nice going, Halb.

You can do 16/8 everyday. I used to do it 3 days a week because it suited me at the time. I would also use it the day after a high calorie day or if I know I'm going out that evening.

It's very easy to do because you eat your normal amount within the 8 hour window and just keep an eye on the clock. Eg you stop eating at 9pm, then you have lunch at 1pm the next day. Keep topped up with zero calorie liquids.

What have your results been sticking to that?
Everyday yeah. I did play with the idea of breaking it when I went away last weekend. But the hotel were cool and I just packed away the breakfast and ate it post 2. biggrin
I will be breaking it when I go away at the end of the month because the breakfasts my mates make are ace. biggrin
Started it mid/late August. And over a stone of flab is gone, difficult to judge because muscle has gone up to. Possibly stone and half of flab if being generous. So that's around 1½ pound of flab a week, or a pound of flab if you take a more conservative number. Combined with lots of exercise...save for the last two weeks where I have been off it mostly...but it hasn't affected my progress, in fact the rest has done me good I reckon, and my latest reading is that I have still put on muscle and lost fat. Visceral fat now down to 5.
Currently sipping my second cup of fruit tea, gonna have a black coffee next. biggrin
I also take BCAA when training fasted. Sara Solomon advocate 20/4, but that is more turned towards fat loss than fat loss/muscle building combo.

Giving the 52 a try, 6'1" and 244lbs. Doc wants me to be at 196 - 200. First fast day today, and started circuit training at the weekend. Skiing booked for begining Feb so want to be in better shape by then.

Been at it just over a fortnight and lost half a stone. I've had a mountain of DIY to do and busy at work so taking allot home which has meant I've nto been able to do much exercise. Should be better from next week and hopefully drop off quicker.

I pretty much just skip breakfast on a fast mostly but have some porridge through the day if I get particularly hungry. Then have fish or chicken with a load of veg for my evening meal. Non-fast days are pretty controlled although I don’t accurately record anything I just do a mental guesstimation. I seem to do better if I don’t eat until that one meal as I feel hungrier when I eat.

I started the 5:2 in April but increased it so that I fasted on 5 days and ate normally on 2 as I had a lot of weight to lose. I weighed in this weekend and have lost 5 stone which I am very happy with.

Started on April 6th at 14st dead, and weighed in this weekend at 9st dead. This means I only have half a stone to go smileI will now need to gradually adjust my eating and plan to maintain the normal 5:2 to prevent weight gain in the future.

For the poster who said they struggle to go to loo, 4 to 6 prunes should keep you regular. I would start on 4 and build up from there or you may get a bit of a shock biggrin

Body fat measurement today was 15.9%. At this point, it's very much a case of diminishing returns - it's taken 3.5 months to lose 1% (3kgs) off body fat.

I'm not sure I have the patience to target 15.0%

Do you train much?

Myfatloss is still happening. I am considering eating more in my window or dropping the 16/8 for a couple of days.
Still get very hungry in the morning sometimes...it might be my imagination but I think I am getting hungrier.

Not enough training tbh - 2 year old in the house. Need to spend some money on a personal trainer.

Lost a couple of stone with the help of ADF / 5:2 and then fell off the wagon, got depressed and put it all (and a bit more) back on again.

Bumping this thread to remind me to read through it all again and to try and get some ideas of how to make meal times vaguely interesting with the restrictions in place and combine this with some exercise this time to see if that.

So that's my fatties anonymous speech finished other than to say "my name is thetapeworm and I like food too much".

How's everyone else doing?

How can you "fall off the wagon" doing 5:2? It's the easiest "diet"(more of a permanent lifestyle actually) to stick to bar none. You made a decision to stop doing the fast days I take it?

I found it easy, move to 7:0 and then eat badly.

So yeah, essentially I stopped the fast days thinking I was under control and eating OK, then gradually got worse and out of control.

I'm not proud, hence coming back here and setting myself up for a PH flogging from my peers.

Never liked the look of 5:2. Looks too hard sticking to so little on those days. Much prefer 16/8 where I can feast like a king at 2pm.

Ditto. 16/8 is piss easy.

I find 5:2 works well for me until something comes along that I don’t have the commitment or will power for such as a holiday, or not being able to get a fast day in due to being away with work and entertaining.

I lost 2 stone since Christmas on 5:2 though and if I’ve fell of the wagon I’ve got back on it. What time is your window advocates of 16:8? I’ve never been one for breakfast so it would suit be better although in 8 hours I could put some amount of calories away! To that end with no scientific back up other than my own opinion (for me) 5:2 could be for me a better weight loss technique but 16:8 better for maintainence?

I'm 2 weeks into 5:2.

Starting weight 14 stone 4 pounds.

Weight this morning 13 stone 8 pounds.

That's with no exercise and really long office hours. I was going to the gym 5 x week before this particularly busy work period came about so I'm not *that* fat hehe, just need to lose a bit o'belly.

Although 600 kcal sounds horrendous (I was eating c3500 kcal, c300g protein / day when training really hard) it actually really isn't that bad at all. Just stay well hydrated and see what suits you: 600 kcal in one hit in the morning, spreading it over the day, or saving it for the evening.

I intend to stick to this for a long while.

Good luck all!
