I have entered the 'try-outs' for the elite team at Urban Attack. I have never done an event like this before, but it should be some fun.

I have stupidly signed up for this. question to those who have done this, I have quite a high level of cycle fitness, will that be enough to carry me through?

Last year I made sure I could run around 5 miles, you only run about a mile tops between obstacles.

I would suggest you need to focus on core and upper body if you are reasonably confident in your legs/endurance.

I saw some right fatties doing it, you'll be fine.

As mentioned, upper body strength to haul your ass up stuff is probably as important, not to mention decent mates to push you over.

I think we will have 4 or 5 of us. Upper body shouldnt be too much of an issue. I will put some work in on strength and running fitness to cover myself. Gives me something to aim for.

I have signed up for the Scotland one this year. Looking forward to it as I have never done something like this before but looks like so much fun. Can run around 3 miles and will have to work on upper body strength a fair bit. Training starts today!

I am doing the west London TM in May, comfortable with fitness but concerned with potential vision issues as I have to wear contact lenses and worried they may get washed out in water obstacles.

Anyone who has completed one any recommendations, did wonder about a pair of swimming goggles (yes realise I will look a knob) ?

I've done 3 Mudders amongst other obstacle races and never had an issue wearing contacts, a mate of mine regularly wears his glasses doing them!!

Just to update event was yesterday and got on fine, the contact lenses actually helped with Cry Baby where you are crawling through a gas filled tunnel as it didn't affect me in the slightest.

Will definitely do another smile

I was supposed to do the southern one last Sunday but came down with covid on Friday. Its properly buggered me up so no chance to take part but they have transferred me to the 2023 race.
