Have a look at rat race dirty weekend, it's supposed to be longer and harder than tough guy and tough mudder put together!
Yes seen this, looks good plus its just up the road from me which is handy. I suspect its a number of laps around a course rather than an all out 20 mile race. Not that that matters as it still looks challenging. Also looking at doing a 'hellrunner' next February near Stoke-on-Trent.
My Tough Mudder team mates are already thinking of doing another one, the one down south on the 8th/9th June suites them but seems my son fancies a go at one too so might do the May 4th one too as its not far from me (Kettering), this is the weekend before the RatRace event though.
Had a good time and did not find the water obstacles too bad in hindsight. The electric shocks however were evil, it felt like being punched in the face on the crawling one and knocked me on my ass on the final obstacle.
We did a time of 2hr 14 mins which I think was pretty good.
Already signed up for he one next June down south (venue tbc) but at least it will be closer!
Oh, the wife will be doing it too!,,

2:14! That's bloody good, we were nearer 4 hours. In our team of 10 we ended up going round at the speed of the slowest member. Which was fine except for not being able to run quick enough to keep warm.
Bizarrely the electric shock ones didn't bother me, didn't feel anything on the crawl one and just had a coupe of zaps on the last one. Other members of my team did though, one guy managed to get zapped on the eye!
We also ended up cutting a bit off the course at the end, after the crawl through electric shock one TM marshals were directing us straight to Everest rather than doing an additional loop, they said it would get too cold as the sun was going down and to be honest none of us were complaining
Looking at the one down south too plus maybe the one in May as its close to home for me.

I was there on Saturday for my first Tough Mudder. Was a brilliant day and really well organised. We got round the course in 2:55 and were treated to a shower of hail stones which came out of nowhere about 20 minutes before the end of the race. Anyone who is tempted by it should definitely give it a go but I would recommend that you get some running practice in if you don't tend to do much. I've never run further than 5 miles before Saturday and my legs and feet did feel the punishment!
For various reasons I stopped both smoking and drinking on Xmas day 2012. Luckily I've had enough willpower and determination to stick at it, despite the cold turkey approach to bother at the same time.
Since then I've worked at my fitness, entering a few 10K cross country races, with my time now down to 49 mins. Whilst not exactly an athlete, I'm happy enough with the progress.
I did the Rat Race Dirty Weekend 3 weeks ago - 'just' the 13 mile one - and enjoyed it. So much so, I'll be in Winchester a week Saturday doing Tough Mudder. I'm also doing Tough Guy at the end of July.
I'd never have thought about entering anything like these events up until recently. They've given me something to focus on, a reason to keep up the training and not to go back to the cigs etc.
Everything I've entered has been as a solo competitor, which for me adds to the achievement, knowing I've done it alone and without the support either on the day or during the training.
Hope all goes well for those entering!! Good luck.

Did it with the wife and my brother and his wife, they all enjoyed it too. It is as hard as you want it to be as you can go as fast as you want. A good day out!
Good stuff. Cracking weather for it. I set off at 0930 so wasn't doing it in the worst of the heat. Just signed up to the September event in Wales. I'm also taking part in July's Tough Guy too.Just seen that a friend on mine is doing it for charity, never heard of it before but just been looking at this http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjkiebus/31-reasons-tough-... that he posted on his wall. I like the picture at the bottom of all the dirty trainers in a pile. Looks mad.
Did it at 10am on the saturday. Perfect weather all day.
Swallowed half the water at the Walk The Plank obstacle, bruised my knees to fk through Trench Warfare, listened to my mate scream like a bh through the Electric Eel as he got shocked 4 times in quick succession, and then pissed myself laughing as the same mate faceplanted through the very last electric shock obstacle.
Total time of 3hrs 15mins which considering my training has been non-existant the past 2 or 3 weeks & the furthest I have EVER managed to run was about 6 miles I'm quite happy with that. At least I was until I picked up some woman this morning who told me her ex-para husband did it in 2hrs 15m!
MAY do another one but it sure as hell won't be outside of summer!!
