Finally, we've got a pull up bar at home, and if she can do 10 long arm pull/chin-ups and 50 press-ups, she'll be fine.
Are you talking consecutively? I bet most guys on here couldn't do 50 consecutive press-ups!

Btw how did you do on the monkey bars?

Honestly, if it is warm enough, i'm definitely going topless. It was 10 degrees on the Saturday morning when we started, and I didn't get particularly cold, only when we got stopped for that 15 min period, but I wasn't shivering or anything.
Which one are you doing? I do not foresee Cheshire on an October morn to be warm.

What is the best technique for monkey bars?

Maintain momentum at all costs! Bloody hard to get it going again once you stop.

I'm doing Henley at the end of April. Temperatures then could literally be anything from 0 to 20.

I can do 50 press-ups in one go, and 12 proper chin-ups, wife is up to 21 press-ups in one go and 1 proper chin-up, so she's already heading in the right direction. I want to be able to do 100 press-ups and 25 chin-ups by April...(that's the plan anyway)

With respect to Monkey Bars, I was really worried that i'd just ditch on the first one, two of my mates did, but I almost made it half way, was really pleased with myself, started giggling like a kid, then fell hehe

One of my mates made it to the last one, was stretching out his leg to step onto land then fell, he was gutted!

I've heard the side to side method is easier.
I've seen video of my two nephews going across the Yorkshire one. Younger nep tried side to side and dropped halfway, older nep did one rung at a time, solid technique and went across no issues. Of course strength/slippyness also plays a part.

I think I did one at a time (they go up hill to start)

And yes, the rungs are wet and slippery too, so that doesn't help.

Time to find a kids playground then!
My gum is getting a Synergy 360, but no idea when it arrives.

We did it last saturday at the Yorkshire one, there's another bit of a thread here
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I'm crap at pull ups, can bang out 50 press ups with relative ease but 3 pull ups is my max (proper ones mind). Need to work on that.

I managed 4 monkey bars but they were slippery as fook, I just could hang on! My mate did though but he can knock out pull ups until we get bored watching him, the tart.

Great fun anyway, the £2.98 B&Q gripper gloves were great too btw, don't spend more than that on gloves. Only thing to be mildly concerned about is the electric shocks...bloody hell they hurt.

Nice and clean at the start

Not sure it was mud I wiped on my face?

Can't explain how awful it is running up and down the side of a hill

Now.....if you look closely, at the top of that brown hill in the far distance...there are people...yes, we had to run up and down up and down, and it kept getting higher...at least the last few miles were almost downhill (few more uphills thrown in though)

At the top of Everest...first time too! Easeh!

BANG! Took out Danny right at the end hehe

Done. Pint.

Best mate.

Sky Lounge at the Hilton in Leeds that night, nice place, £9.95 for a Mojito though!

I've only done the one but did find they give you a bit of extra protection, I wouldn't spend more than £3 on the b&q grippers gloves though, just chuck em at one of the drinks stations (bins provided) if you think they are rubbish.

Good luck anyway, great fun.

We are signing up for the Yorkshire Warrior early next year after enjoying this one so much.

It will make the water based obstacles seem less severe though!

Current forecast for this Saturday (8:40am start; eugh) is cloud and approximately 13 degrees. Pretty agreeable!

Doing the Cheshire one in a few weeks. What should I wear?

Got a pair of trail shoes but beyond that I'm not sure.

The absolute perfect attire for TM would be the following

+ speedos
obviously not everyone can run in those for any distance, so trail shoes would be fine. I wore Inov8 F-Lite 230 and they didn't soak up too much water at all.

Bear in mind your shoes will be permanently soaked from the start to the finish.
