Agree, he was doing bloody well too until tipping over backwards. Not ad if he was an idiot trying to lift a weight he was never gonna manage. That could've seriously fooked his neck/back, he certainly seemed to have lost consciousness.
OTOH if it was a weight he couldn't manage then he might not be able to get it up there in the first place.

silly

He was obviously pushing himself, maybe going for a PB, but he certainly isnt a fktard like the various other eejits in the video. He probably suffered a very serious injury there frown

I really want to start doing deadlifts, but at 48, I always worry I'll end up trying too hard and end up damaging my back..
I trained bench on Monday with a guy a few years older than you and he's stronger than 99% of gym goers. He squats and deadlifts heavy too.

I'm within months of being 48. It's all about technique. I lift heavier weights now than I did when rowing seriously in my 20s.

Here's one: PTs, who should know better, commandeering half the equipment in the gym for one of their clients to do a circuit.

You can be one of those people who does bench presses in the squat racks!

I do my best to be The Talker. Gyms are such dull, unfriendly places. Anyone who has participated in any sport or fitness class can compare the atmosphere you get in your average library gym to said sports club/class.

Probably had this already;

Was squatting the other day and overheard some guys talking about what they could squat/deadlift, anyway, long sotry short, uni dude complains that the floor in the gym is all soft and squidgy and that he doesnt like squatting to heavy on it. The ground is solid concrete with 2 layers of solid rubber matting so nothing to do with the cushioned shoes he is wearing.

Proceeded to say how his max squat was 160kg for 4 at around 80kg BW yet unable to do a full range of motion on the 45 degree leg press despite loading the weight up.

I know, cool story Bro.

Why do women always bring their phones (and no headphones, therefore not listening to music) with them to the gym? What's wrong with a locker?

Squat rack today - skinny black youth using it to shoulder press 25kg. Yep, 25kg. His headphones were bigger than the plates on the bar.

Maybe he's recovering from injury?

At least he's not curling it I guess...

If it's free, I use a squat rack for pressing. tongue out
Saves cleaning the fecker every time.

Happy to vacate if someone wants to squat though.

I use the squat rack for shoulder pressing as well getmecoat

But if someone asks me if they can squat im happy to move. Most of the people in the gym tend to be on chest/arm/back day so the squat racks get limited use.

The problem being, however much someone says they are happy to move they actually resent doing so. I ask people to move often and the response is rarely one of happiness.

Also, some people aren't as prepared as i am to ask others to move, which can lead to pent up demand for the rack.

Using the right equipment is both good practice and good manners.

Same. My gym has two squat racks....though I prefer the rack attachments on the big climbing frame (so three in practise). I do Rip's SS at the moment, so all my resistance work is bar work, in the same order.
Right now, my Press is done at the start, a healthy lower back is key plus my the order of my exercises, if I have the bar, then I've got it for a good long while. biggrin

What would be the problem if he was? Yes it's frustrating if you see yourself as the only one who has an legitimate right to use the squat rack for what it was intended but to most it's simply a method of supporting a bar. I've used a squat rack for heavy shoulder pressing, incline and curls. You can always ask me to hurry up.
