What is it with the snap back caps on back to front in the gym whilst lifting?

Don't complain too much - they subsidise your fee. By February they'll be gone and will keep the direct debit going while intending to return, thus giving extra money to the gym. Without the NYRers, your membership fee would be double! biggrin

Fair point!

Hopefully Mr Bannatyne will use their pennies to get me a sled run installed and a proper leg press smile

I see what you're saying but disagree. The Gym market is highly competitive. Gyms rely on a large percentage of paying members who don't turn up just to make a decent return. Years ago i was a member of a gym which had a membership of 10,000. That's a lot. At any one time there would be maximum (it couldn't hold anymore) of 200. Yes there will be some mums and bums who turn up from 9 till 4 but they are few compared to peak times 6.30am till 8 and 4.40 till 9. I would guess no more than 2000 went regularly and under half used the place at all!

My other half did this, would go maybe 4 times a year but kept up the monthly repayment scheme just encase she fancied going. Was too scared to go in by herself and cancel it as well/i had to go with her which i assume will be the same for alot of other ladies out there.

There was talk ages ago about one of the big chains going under as people where just cancelling the dd with the bank and not going in and giving notice like they'd like you to do/threaten legal action if you didnt but they stayed afloat.

As for snap backs, couple of guys in my gym wear them but i think they want to emulate the owner as he wears one to train. Still would rather have guys in snap backs than the dirty fker who come in stinking of wet dog.

Mmm. If I were hangry, I'd argue about something but I'm not.

Roll on the part timers giving it up!
Attention gym bunnies - we didn't moan when you all runied our pubs in December, don't moan when we use your gyms in January.

When I am at the gym, trying to do tri-sets, so no rest between exercises but some one (usually, the type who goes to the gym to ease there conscious more than anything, not actually do much) will grab the dumbells I was going to use immediately after the exercise I am doing now or the machine I am stood next to ready to use immediately after one exercise.

With the people who are switched on and know training, they're fine and know what you're doing, so no problem but these other people, you say, " sorry, I am doing tri-sets, using those" they mainly look at you like you've just spoken to them in Japanese .

I do, most of the time- never go in the evenings as I know it would be impossible then!

I wouldn't do it at these times either as I appreciate that the weights/machines are there for everyone but I have this happen when the gym is relatively quiet. I think some folks just aren't aware of that type of training and so as I'm not using it that precise moment they think I am done with them and just left them on the floor or whatever.

Yea, yea funny huffy!

You know what I mean, I like tri-set training and I normally only do 3 sets, so I am probably quicker with the weights than the people (maybe like you?) that do a set of say shoulder presses, then sit there doing bugger-all for the next 5 minutes before doing another set and repeat.
I'd be done and out of there by then.tongue out

If I'm super/tri etc and someone asks to use equipment I'll happily let them know what I'm up to, how many sets I have left, and let them work in with me. Little point in being all precious about it, especially if it's a busy time. smile

Sure. If I'm using the weights and taking a 2 minute rest (because that's the type of routine I'm doing), then I will let someone use the weights.

Just because you're blitzing through weights and out before I've done my next set doesn't mean your routine is the right one for me. Actually, it is the wrong one for my goals.

Hillsborough gym has been a tt fest so far this year. They always take on loads in January but this year is beyond sense. Yesterday you couldn't get parked for love nor money (at 10am well before football crowd) and changing rooms packed. This evening no staff, no towels no nothing.

They up the fees and reduce the opening hours (7pm close at weekends)

Anyone use a decent gym in north Sheffield? Used to be good value but like I say the costs have gone through roof and don't take kids swimming as often I as I used to

Not as many new members in my gym this Jan which is ace! They have doubled the size of the weights area also so it is now huge. All in all very happy..

So on to the moans biggrin This one goes out to the weird Eastern European chap (pretty hench to be fair) who insists on hacking up the contents of his entire body every time he has a shower, which can be heard throughout the whole changing area, gents toilets and most likely just outside the changing room! It's f**king disgusting and goes on for about 2 minutes. Grim.
