Why don't you mimic him, you know, try and out-hack him with as much exaggerated gusto as you can manage?

Should get the message then. biggrin

He probably is severely dehydrated. I get like that if I don't bother hydrating during a tennis match in summer. Which is why I make sure I'm not dehydrated.

There are two options if he doesn't stay hydrated:
1) He continues to gross you out by hacking up his contents until he's an empty, dry husk. (And be grateful he does it in the shower, not by his locker!)
2) He just coughs and coughs without being productive and eventually vomits the contents of his stomach. In other words: he continues to gross you out.

Best advise him he needs to stay hydrated. wink

Ha! I like that approach... although he has an air of 'unhinged' about him so maybe a helpful note left on his gym bag Re: Staying Hydrated might suffice! lol

The 'mimic' approach is known to work though... we do this in the gym when you get the lad's screaming out during their 'big' deadlift sessions. You'd think they were lifting 2-300kg. Oh no, just the 80-100! biggrinbiggrin

Don't be mean. It's still tough if they're pushing their limits. I hope to graduate to the purple dumbbell deadlift this month.

Actually, that's not far from the truth. Due to a broken finger (late last year, now healed), it feels like the tip is being ripped off at the knuckle when I do 40kg DLs so I may make a noise or two. (But yes, I've reduced the load to a mighty 30kg.) Grr etc.

You already do high reps on the purple dumbbell, don't you Hoofy.

Hillsborough gym has been a tt fest so far this year. They always take on loads in January but this year is beyond sense. Yesterday you couldn't get parked for love nor money (at 10am well before football crowd) and changing rooms packed. This evening no staff, no towels no nothing.

They up the fees and reduce the opening hours (7pm close at weekends)

Anyone use a decent gym in north Sheffield? Used to be good value but like I say the costs have gone through roof and don't take kids swimming as often I as I used to
Don't know if it's near enough but I'd recommend http://www.titaniumstrengthgym.co.uk

Probably been mentioned, as most of them have by now, but people that use umpteen different bits of kit cobbled together to perform one exercise that can be done on a single machine that is currently free e.g. using a Reebok Step at the bottom of the cable crossover to perform a seated row.

There's a fking seated row machine about 7 paces behind you you selfish wker! AND there's no-one on it. In fact, there hasn't been anyone anywhere near it for the past 20 minutes, so take your step and shove it up your selfish ignorant arse!!

Been looking all over for this thread, appears at top of page haha!

There's a guy who goes to the gym every morning at same time as me, and he always seems to use the same bicep curl machine for the duration I'm there, and I get through 7-8 different exercises!

Don't you know you're supposed to do that stuff in the squat rack?

How NOT to squat 401kg.

wtf was the guy even thinking? I don't understand why you wouldn't even try to put the grips on the ends to stop them coming off. Sometimes I will put them on even if it's only 1 plate on each side when I'm repping to failure.

I've seen that happen in the gym. A skinny lad benching with loads of 1.25 and 2.5kg plates each end of the bar but no collars.

He struggled with the last rep, one arm failed and lots of little weights trickled off one end of the bar.... which then flipped viciously up at the now light end until all the little weights trickled off the other end. Balance restored, he was left laying there with only the bar.

Just getting it up off the rack needs some strength at that weight but there is no way that's going down and back up again. And not having the collars on was probably intentional so he didn't just kill himself.

What a nobhead.
