The cap wearers. I am of an upbringing where you do not wear a hat the minute you're indoors, be it a shop a train station or a gym, so seeing people wearing caps annoys me a little as much as it bewilders me.
It's the guys at my gym who wear knitted woolen hats that get me. I'm sweating buckets due to the heat and they are wearing the sort of hat that would keep a polar bear warm.

Why? Just why?

Right non of these will be remotely original but here goes.

Agree with all but....

6) Scruffy gym gear, scruffy trainers. Look good, feel good, train good.
Its not a fashion show... my mrs obsesses about ironing the tshirts etc, I couldn't give a s**t... its just getting sweated on who cares, as long as it works.
They might have scruffy trainers because maybe they actually run in them outside!

What i don't get is where people get the time to go to the gym for hours ?

I mainly run but started doing a couple of days rowing and weights and you see people do like 10 lifts then wander around get a drink check there phone then another 10 lifts, they must be in there until closing.

There is a young lad (18-20 at a guess) who's always got a stupid grey floppy hat thing on, with a light turquoise wife-beater on to compliment it.
Another lad obsessed with his hair and is literally up to the mirror after every set and inspecting it and flicking it back.

Proper weird!

Both of them also seem to have an aversion to training there legs as well, so they do have that in common even though one appears to hate/not have any hair and the other cant stop looking/touching it!

Yeah there's a guy like that in my gym, quite stocky up top but legs like pipe cleaners, looks most odd, he can usually be seen strutting back and forth the weights area catching loving glimpses of himself, or doing 10 reps of 8k on the fly machine grunting loudly then stopping to check out the girls for 8 minutes.

Yesterday he was on it with his iphone only doing one side while he had the phone to his ear.

Odd.

What's worse is when they're using ONE machine but sitting on the two machines on either side whilst their scrawny mate bench presses 5kg.

encountered my first group of talkers today. was on the cross trainer. 30min into it two guys get on the ones to my left and start chatting loudly, I can hear them through my headphones as I watch TopGear. then a 3rd person comes from the other side of the gym and stands behind them for 10minutes, all chatting. GRRRRR.

1) the bag holders, why are you carrying around a bag all around the gym. Don't get me wrong, there are the need for chalk, wraps, and belts, but you don't need a big holdall for them all. put it away in a locker.

2) these nutters wearing full tracksuit and/or jackets/hoodies in this weather. my gym doesn't have aircon so it can get a tad warm in there. has no one told these people you can't sweat fat?

3) I know its been said but the loud talkers. why do I need to know your conversation on the other side of the gym.

4) The talkers. I'm quite a friendly guy, so I've got a few people I've met at hte gym just in passing, but why do they always want to chat to me when I'm deep into a superset with limited rest time? go away and wait till I'm miving stations.

o avoid this I give the powder a shake before adding the liquid, then add liquid and turn the shaker upside-down and hit the side so the dry stuff at the bottom drops down, then shake smile
I'd never thought of turning it upside down after filling with liquid, to dislodge the powder from the bottom. Nice !

When I was training 'properly/seriously' I used a holdall; for my OL shoes, other pieces of kit that accrued over time. It's far easier to do that, especially on a power rack. I have no wish to be walking across the gym and sometimes through several doors (and in two gyms down the stairs) to get to a locker.

In fact I still use a lil nylon drawstring bag now, for my logbook, and a few other items. It'd be weird for me not to have a bag.

This is me biggrin
I have a pair of shoes for overhead, a pair of shoes for deadlifts/squats.
A belt for deadlifts
A belt for squats
A belt for overhead
Wrist wraps for overhead/bench
Figure 8 straps for deadlifts
Normal straps for heavy pull downs if needed.
Chalk
Liquid chalk
Knee sleeves for most of the above
Elbow sleeves for when needed
A deadlift suit (if I'm using it for that session)
A bottle of water
A bottle containing intra workout

I do 3 compound movements a session, soon to be 4 on my peak program starting next month.

A bag is my only option smile

People obsessed with getting a protein shake down their neck's 30 seconds after finishing a workout.. FFS.. it can wait till you get home / back to work, it literally won't make any difference to you or your recovery but it will mean that there isn't a nasty mess in water station where you've spilt some powder or on the floor by said water station or worse still, in the changing room where you've shaken the shaker only to realise the lid isn't on properly so now there are splatters of it all over the floor, wall's and lockers. Not to mention discarded packets of protein mix, empty tub's etc..
