I guess that's because of the suit. wink
Impressed by lifts. Not sure what the suit is supposed to do.
Have you seen Aliens?

Correct me if i'm wrong but I always thought spotting was a gentle push to get you through the worst part of the lift.

Some chaps were "spotting" each other by grabbing wrists for a flat bench dumbell press - straining with the weight on rep 1. It ended in disaster as the spotter shifted position to get a better angle and moved slightly to the left of the plane of movement. Cue 40KG dumbell going AWOL and what looked like a nasty shoulder strain. Luckily no one was on the bench next to them at the time.
The way I use a spotter is to get the biggest person in the gym to bench 150kg then I say I did it with the help of a spotter.

My fitness moan is that my knee really hurts after my PT includes skipping in a session (skipping with a rope; not Michael MacIntyre style! biggrin )

Tell him. And stop skipping.

That is true. I've started stabbing my legs before squats for extra pain.

I guess that's because of the suit. wink

Ever used a lifting belt?

If so, same concept taken a bit further.

Doesn't bouncing the bar off the floor do that? biggrin

Mental.

BTW new gym? The last one looked like a storage locker in a warehouse.

Talking of "moans" I learnt a valuable lesson.

I've never been one for squatting much due to confidence in my knees from past cycling and whatnot.

Anyhoo lesson learnt was to alway make sure you go use the potty before doing anything squat or leg press related.

A few sets in to warming up on a proper weighted leg press machine I suddenly let rip with a parp parp. . . Luckily the floor was quiet so I managed to hoard the smell to myself.

So looking forward to older age. . .

I genuinely do not mean to be rude, but what is the point? If the suit is doing some of the work, you're not really lifting the weight anymore; you are lifting slightly less than the weight.

I don't use them, or straps or gloves. I'll use liquid chalk for heavy (for me) lifts.

You need to get it off the ground first for that!

I thought Smiffy wore it because his lunch kept popping out when he wore regular shorts?

weekday peak time using the cross trainer. There was a woman on the rowing machine who after about 5 minutes of me being on the cross trainer wiped her entire head, neck and shoulders with her towel then decided to dump it there for 5min while she went to get water.

also whats the deal with some people filling their water bottles to the max before/during a workout? takes ages on a drinking fountain when its a 1litre bottle. I doubt they're going to drink an entire litre during their workout. I fill up maybe 200ml and sip that, sometimes I don't even touch it. At the end I might fill it up a good way to drink on the way out.

I've been guilty on both counts before now. Even tried filling a 1 litre bottle at peak lunchtime. Think I only filled it a quarter full before the first complaint biggrin bang to rights in that instance I suppose smile normally I'd wait till there was no queue and fill up then.

So she bags a machine, fills her water and works out. I for one would need more than 200ml in a hot gym if I'm on a treadmill.

What's the issue?
the water bottle thing was seperate to what she did. The issue is it probably takes about 50seconds+ instead of the 10seconds it takes me! biggrin

I always pre-fill, since currently the beaker has creatine, BCAA, citrulline and probably other stuff in it, maybe beta-alinine.
I smash through that in a one hour weights session, I tend to only sip on treadmill days but'll need a large water afterwards.
