Lift from the ground for rep 1 but don't quite get the hips through. Lower to mid-shin. Back up to almost complete.
They were doing 5 reps like that. They kept their backs straighter than you would expect, but it was bizarre stuff. 2 large guys (90kg at least) who weren't very strong but had very fetching little vests and made a lot of noise.
Define "not very strong" and then we can judge... They were doing 5 reps like that. They kept their backs straighter than you would expect, but it was bizarre stuff. 2 large guys (90kg at least) who weren't very strong but had very fetching little vests and made a lot of noise.
The partial deadlifts were done with 110 or 120kg, I think.

They are class C drugs, so it's illegal to possess them (without a prescription) and more illegal to supply them.
There is no offence to possess (prescription or not), but it is illegal to manufacture, supply or possess/import/export steroids with the intent to supply, sans licence.Centurion07 said:
So, pick a weight you can manage 12 reps with, except not really because your buddy is going to help with half of them.
FFS, if your buddy is helping you with number seven then I'm pretty sure he's going to be doing number twelve all on his ownsome!
Negatives are very powerful.FFS, if your buddy is helping you with number seven then I'm pretty sure he's going to be doing number twelve all on his ownsome!
It's entirely possible you could still force out 6 negatives on your own, or at least almost on your own (bearing in mind machines don't always have finite adjustment) and benefit.

It's silly rowing nerdery. Set the damper at whatever level you find most pleasant. 6/7 is the 'right' setting for medium-large size men, but it doesn't really matter much if you're just using the machine as a warm up as CV training.
It was designed by rowers. To exercise properly, you go to "more options" in the PM and set the drag so that it gives you a drag factor between 130 and 140. Every C2 is different, so the drag adjuster is not consistent across machines. Setting the drag factor trough the PM though will give you consistency across machines. Obviously this only really matters if the C2 is your primary workout for the day.A bloke "helpfully" giving me advice on how to use a C2. He no doubt meant well but the I've had 2 ops on my right knee which is the reason I can't physically "slide right in and get the legs fully bent". I have a C2 at home and know perfectly well how to use it, sometimes you can only do what an injury will allow. I was civil to him of course, even after I had to stop and take off my headphones to hear what he was saying.
On phones in the gym. I can get work calls at anytime so I do take the phone in. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones with a built in mic so I can just tap the ear button and carry out a call with out picking up the phone. If the call means I have to stop exercising I just step away from whatever I was doing, nobody gets disturbed. Plus I don't have to listen to the god awful gym music!
And Bell ends.
A bloke last week was doing the full shouty, grunty, running from machine to machine routine for everybody else's benefit, lots of sweating and staring at himself in the mirror. The stations are all on a raised platform with a lowered path running up to the other parts of the gym, so where does the idiot do his push-ups? Right in the middle of that path, forcing everybody else to step up and walk between the machines and weights, despite the fact that there is a whole floor training area 15 yards further up. He didn't even know how to use things properly and was clearly over-doing it, surprised he didn't have a heart attack.
He was in the changing room later walking about and speaking loudly on his phone about "Deals" and "Punters".
I'm off work for a while after some surgery and I can tell you a bit of ill health drastically lowers your threshold for putting up with idiots. If he's there blocking up the walkway next time I go in I'll tell him get out of the way!
Christ I'm bored!

Quite true IMO. I've found negatives are of particular benefit when taking up bodyweight exercises again (HSPUs, pullups etc)It's entirely possible you could still force out 6 negatives on your own, or at least almost on your own (bearing in mind machines don't always have finite adjustment) and benefit.
I was on the leg press the other day and a bloke sat on the seat of a bike across from me - about a foot away - just gazing at my machine. He's obviously waiting for the leg press I thought, but a few sets later and he slopes off. I thought nothing of it until later when I was upstairs doing bulgarian split squats on a step and turned around to find him leaning against the wall just watching me. Ok, maybe he's waiting for the step, But when I finished my workout and put the step back, he walked away! :-| Ermm....
