Anyone had any problems with nerve damage post-surgery?

Anyone had the surgery and it was a success?

This surgery was done to resolve a stiff big toe, not for bunions, as it's known for.

Colectomy is removal of the large bowel or colon

You mean cheilectomy, lumpy bit contributing to bunion.

And for a stiff big toe or hallux rigidus, most people have a fusion, but you have something different

Can you explain a bit more, please?

Basically the surgery was carried out on a family member and now they are suffering serious nerve damage, have a disabled badge and walking stick etc. Their life has been turned upside down because of this. There was no mention of the possibility of nerve damage prior to the surgery.

Without seeing the patient, your relative I cannot help you any more.

There is a professional/ethical impasse here and I'm sorry for you/her/him

You could try googling "complications of foot surgery"

A second opinion can also be sought on the NHS

Sorry
