Hi all, long story short is that I'm working away from home and appear to have had a bit of a chest infection for almost a week now. I won't be home for another week and a half.

Is there some way of me seeing someone and getting a prescription for antibiotics?

There is a drop in centre in Brighton but if it's anything like the one at home they will just tell me to see my normal doctors which isn't an option. Is it worth me giving them a try (really don't want to waste the time off work) or is there a better solution?

Thanks!

Phone the walk in centre first as where I used to work we couldn't give antibiotics for chest infections had to be gp. Otherwise can be seen as a temporary pt with local go service or contact out of hours service, they don't care where you live.

I am sure there will be a private GP in the area. Normally same day appointments available. You will have to pay the correct price for the anti-biotics not the NHS price though. Sometimes cheaper but never that much more when I have had a private prescription. Also more chance of getting prescribed something as it is not coming out of their budgets as you are paying..

Well I ended up at the local drop in centre and I'm pleased to say that they provided a prescription for a Ventolin inhaler which has made breathing a little easier. They reckoned anti-biotics not necessary as chest is apparently pretty much clear.

Happy days smile

Well, apart from the general feeling of crapness...
