IMO you may be able to get it cheaper if you buy individually. I would look at myprotein and get the same then use the discount codes supplied throughout this thread or Google them then compare smile

Just popped into my local GNC as they lots of BOGOF on Whey Proteins at the moment. Just wondered if anyone could give some feedback on the brands and any i should steer clear off. The ones recommended in store where:

Optimum Nutrition - Gold Standard 100% Whey - 908g - £43.55 per tub
30 servings (29.4g per serving = 24.2g Protein/1.3g carbs/1.1g fats
http://www.gnc.co.uk/optimum-nutrition-gold-standa...

PhD Pharma Whey - 2.27kg - £83.15 per tub
90 servings (25g per serving = 20g Protein / 1.7g Carbs / 1.61g sugars

USN 100% Whey Protein - 908g - £39.59
24 servings (34g per serving = 24g Protein / 3.2g Carbs / Fat 3.8g

Looking general on the internet i could get the individual products cheaper, but with their BOGOF offer it works out quite good value.

Myprotein is £60ish for 5kg flavoured or £50ish for 5kg unflavoured and that's 80% concentrate I think so 25g scoop is 21g of protein?

Honestly none of those look good value even with a BOGOF. As smiffy says you can get whey for £10/kg from myprotein that's as good as any of those.

A friend who is a PT, takes consideration when he buys his products, single digit bodyfat etc likes Optimum nutrition. He is entering a contest to try and become one of their models.

Cheers. Just got onto myprotein and ordered the impact whey directly from them.

How is the myprotein stuff working for people?

I only ask, because my local sainsburys was doing the Maximuscle stuff at a really good price, and as this is my first time trying it, thought it was worth the punt. I know this stuff is still expensive, but 3-4 weeks down the line, im noticing 'slight' differences.

I am a completely newbie to this "working out" stuff, as previously through life with football and what not I have never seen the need to stay in shape as it appeared to be happening naturally.

Cheers

They all work the same way - the gains you're seeing are because you're working out, not because of the brand of whey protein you eat.
Whey protein is more of a foodstuff than a supplement in the typical sense that supplement is used in (i.e. for micronutrients and drugs).

I just placed another order with MP – free vest (RRP £14) with deliveries over £40 at the moment. Also, spend minimum £50 and you get the standard free delivery.

So for £50 I got 1kg whey protein, a solid multivit, 250g beta alanine, a nitrate supplement (no experience with these but heard good things so wanted to give them a try for PWO) and a vest.

Working my way through a 1kg of Whey Protein and really like it. Certainly placing another order end of this week.

Just about to buy a shed load of stuff so going to be spending ages saving every last penny smile
I will be trying natural products that tend to be cheap so if anyone wants a review or recommends anything tell us in the next couple of hours.
So far I'm looking at:
Protein
Dextrose
Creatine
D aspartic acid
Vitamin D3
Caffeine tabs (not sure yet)
BCAA
Beta-alanine
Omega 3
Cheap multivitamin.
Glutamine

Considering:
GABA

I would forget about
Dextrose
D aspartic acid
Vitamin D3
Caffeine tabs (not sure yet)
Glutamine
GABA

All of which are either useless or easy to get from a normal diet

Protein - as already mentioned, the MP stuff is cheap and good quality
Dextrose - don't use
Creatine - creatine monohydrate is the one... CEE not only tastes like st but has been disproved to be more efficient
D aspartic acid - don't use
Vitamin D3 - buy on ebay, year's supply is very cheap. Not sure if worthwhile or not... as we change our daylight hours and move to spring, probably not worth it now as we will get more sunlight.
Caffeine tabs (not sure yet) - don't use.
BCAA - don't use, but sciavation xtend i did use and had good recommendations for.
Beta-alanine - the stuff from MP is 10-15 quid for 250g and i use it daily. Not sure if makes a difference but the science backs this up much like creatine mono.
Omega 3 - i use one from Sainsbury and i think cod liver oil high strength is a good addition to the diet (i don't eat fish).
Cheap multivitamin - i use MP Alpha Men and looking at reviews/dissections, it is good value for money and good quality. i only use 2 a day (not 4 as recommended) as i eat quite a bit of variety anyway.
Glutamine - i don't use.

Just my opinions.

BTW if you have the cash, Orange Triad is meant to be a very good multivitamin. It is massively recommended on various websites and has a very high quality profile. It isn’t that cheap though. IIRC about 30 quid for a month’s supply or so.

Dextrose is highly recommended post workout?
D aspartic I want to try as it's cheap and people rave about it for increase in test
L glutamine is also raved about?
I don't think my diet contains them and I don't plan on changing it as it's expensive enough as is smile

Dextrose = unnecessary, just eat something with carbs in it post-workout. Good opportunity to eat healthy fruity vegetably things. Dextrose is a waste of calories.
Glutamine = your protein powder is full of it anyway, as is meat/eggs/fish/any other source of animal protein. It did nothing for me, waste of money.
D aspartic = just another amino acid, see glutamine. You eat it, and your body makes it.

The only aminos that are worth supplementing individually are the essentials (BCAAs) as your body cant make these when it doesnt have enough. A decent protein supplement will have all of them in it anyway

D-aspartic acid does work noticably well in my opinion, it brought me out in quite a few spots and made my skin go oily as well as an increase in sex drive, also it's cheap and you only use it for a couple of weeks at a time.

Most supplements are a waste of time imo, I suppose if your going to spend vast sums of money on them you might aswell save some money and go straight for the steroids, at least they're proven to work and I wouldn't be suprised if they did less damage than some of the off the shelf supplements.
