regardless surely the price counter balances it out to be still cheaper?
Soy comes out as 88% protein as-is so you're buying 2.2kg in your 2.5kg bag, at a 70% weighting vs whey this is 1.54kg whey equivalent. You pay £13.49 on offer for that, so £8.75 per kg of protein. A good deal. Without the half price offer it;s £17.50 per kg, so a little worse than the whey protein. Still competitive with the whey isolate though.Tigerite said:
Ah yes I forgot about that. There's also pea protein by myprotien don't know if that's any good? (On phone takes too long to check)Flibble said:
200 mg caffeine per tablet, 80 mg for a can of red bull, 160 mg for a can of relentless. 200 mg is about as much caffeine as a double espresso.
Jack3d is DMAA and aside from being banned from sale in the UK, is a much stronger substance than caffeine, hard to compare really.
Fair enough, jack 3d stopped working for me after a week Jack3d is DMAA and aside from being banned from sale in the UK, is a much stronger substance than caffeine, hard to compare really.
For 4 quid think im going to get some

Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal and/or advise if TPW is any good?

Thanks
IMO you may be able to get it cheaper if you buy individually. I would look at myprotein and get the same then use the discount codes supplied throughout this thread or Google them then compare http://www.theproteinworks.com/products/packs/lean...
Thanks

Just popped into my local GNC as they lots of BOGOF on Whey Proteins at the moment. Just wondered if anyone could give some feedback on the brands and any i should steer clear off. The ones recommended in store where:
Optimum Nutrition - Gold Standard 100% Whey - 908g - £43.55 per tub
30 servings (29.4g per serving = 24.2g Protein/1.3g carbs/1.1g fats
http://www.gnc.co.uk/optimum-nutrition-gold-standa...
PhD Pharma Whey - 2.27kg - £83.15 per tub
90 servings (25g per serving = 20g Protein / 1.7g Carbs / 1.61g sugars
USN 100% Whey Protein - 908g - £39.59
24 servings (34g per serving = 24g Protein / 3.2g Carbs / Fat 3.8g
Looking general on the internet i could get the individual products cheaper, but with their BOGOF offer it works out quite good value.
Myprotein is £60ish for 5kg flavoured or £50ish for 5kg unflavoured and that's 80% concentrate I think so 25g scoop is 21g of protein? Optimum Nutrition - Gold Standard 100% Whey - 908g - £43.55 per tub

I will be trying natural products that tend to be cheap so if anyone wants a review or recommends anything tell us in the next couple of hours.
So far I'm looking at:
Protein
Dextrose
Creatine
D aspartic acid
Vitamin D3
Caffeine tabs (not sure yet)
BCAA
Beta-alanine
Omega 3
Cheap multivitamin.
Glutamine
Considering:
GABA

All of which are either useless or easy to get from a normal diet
Dextrose is highly recommended post workout?Dextrose

D aspartic I want to try as it's cheap and people rave about it for increase in test
L glutamine is also raved about?
I don't think my diet contains them and I don't plan on changing it as it's expensive enough as is

Dextrose = unnecessary, just eat something with carbs in it post-workout. Good opportunity to eat healthy fruity vegetably things. Dextrose is a waste of calories.
Glutamine = your protein powder is full of it anyway, as is meat/eggs/fish/any other source of animal protein. It did nothing for me, waste of money.
D aspartic = just another amino acid, see glutamine. You eat it, and your body makes it.
The only aminos that are worth supplementing individually are the essentials (BCAAs) as your body cant make these when it doesnt have enough. A decent protein supplement will have all of them in it anyway

D-aspartic acid does work noticably well in my opinion, it brought me out in quite a few spots and made my skin go oily as well as an increase in sex drive, also it's cheap and you only use it for a couple of weeks at a time.
Most supplements are a waste of time imo, I suppose if your going to spend vast sums of money on them you might aswell save some money and go straight for the steroids, at least they're proven to work and I wouldn't be suprised if they did less damage than some of the off the shelf supplements.

What does everyone use for pre-workout supplements?
I used to used Jack3d which for me seemed to work although I did end up going over the recommended dose, Looking on MP I've seen these two but not sure as the first one the reviews aren't to cracking
http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/pulse-v4...
http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/exceed/1...
Does any one have any experience of using either of these? Or recommend anything else?
Rage seems to be the new jack3d at the moment but I haven't tried it. Apparently the main igredients are beta alanine and lots of caffeine. IMO I would buy caffeine tabs and anything else that provides energy as that's all they are at the end of the dayI used to used Jack3d which for me seemed to work although I did end up going over the recommended dose, Looking on MP I've seen these two but not sure as the first one the reviews aren't to cracking

It comes in at £50 for 5kg which seems a bargain. Here's the ingredients:
Undenatured Cross-Flow Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolate (65%), Isolated Undenatured Micellar Casein (33%), stabiliser (pea fibre), Sweetener (cyclamate, saccharin), Natural Flavour.
Cheers
Yes it's good. I'm just about to buy the same brand. If you type 90 whey protein on ebay; there's a pack of 3 for £133!http://www.discount-supplements.co.uk/sports-suppl...

Matrix stuff is always cheap, is it actually any good though?
Full of soy apparently, if you don't mine cheap sources of protein then go for it.Unfortunately if you want 100% whey you'll be paying big money
edit: I may have brands mixed up but I'm sure I read bad stuff on matrix. Anyone confirm?
