Either way the 82% works out cheaper but dont know if ive done the maths correct confused
However the 60% whey works out at £0.01198 according to my maths biggrin
Just as a double check, I'm using the as-is numbers as they're what you're actually buying:

78% (whey protein) is £28 for 2.5kg in which you get 1.96kg of protein. You pay £14.29 per kg of protein.
89% (whey isolate) is £40 for 2.5kg in which you get 2.225kg of protein. You pay £17.98 per kg of protein.
60% (essential whey 60) is on offer at £18.54 for 2.5kg in which you get 1.5kg of protein. You pay £12.36 per kg of protein.
At the normal price for whey 60 you pay £17.66 per kg of protein.

So the on offer 60% is currently cheapest, however usually the 78% whey protein is the best value.

Generally speaking as the protein content goes down the carbs goes up; this will be largely lactose from milk. There's also some extra milk fat in the 78% and 60% vs the 89%.

Unless you particularly want/need the very low fat and carb content of the isolate, you're better off value wise getting the impact whey protein.

why not try http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/soy-prot... ??
Its the cheapest 90% protein content!
Worth noting that soy is less easily absorbed than whey protein, so it's only about 70% as effective as whey for the same weight of protein.

Soy comes out as 88% protein as-is so you're buying 2.2kg in your 2.5kg bag, at a 70% weighting vs whey this is 1.54kg whey equivalent. You pay £13.49 on offer for that, so £8.75 per kg of protein. A good deal. Without the half price offer it;s £17.50 per kg, so a little worse than the whey protein. Still competitive with the whey isolate though.

Thanks Smiffy and Flibble will stick with the whey stuff I had before! I'm not too fused for the increase in extra whey just more after bang for my buck.

How does everyone take the protein? I mix it with milk as when with water it makes me gag although with the unflavored stuff i could add a bit of orange juice with it, but someone mentioned at rugby that with milk it slows down the rat at which its absorbed is this true?

No, pea protein is horrendous- I'd avoid at all costs.

Unflavoured, blended with milk and banana. Tastes like banana milkshake. I usually freeze the banana (remove peel and slice first) as this gives a nice thick shake.

How are they compared to say, red bull/relentless and to a pre workout such as jack 3d or equivalent?

200 mg caffeine per tablet, 80 mg for a can of red bull, 160 mg for a can of relentless. 200 mg is about as much caffeine as a double espresso.

Jack3d is DMAA and aside from being banned from sale in the UK, is a much stronger substance than caffeine, hard to compare really.
