I made it through my first weekend (by not going anywhere near the pub).

So, five days ( to the hour) without tobacco smile

i am trying to keep myself busy, I am just in the process of starting up a little company so plenty of things to be getting on with !

I have pretty much stopped going to the pub over the last few months, so to be honest it was no real sacrifice not going there this weekend, it just made not smoking easier !

I am considering turning over a whole new leaf..becoming self employed and living a more healthy life style..fingers crossed it all works out, either way my business stands a better chance if I don't stink of tobacco/ yesterday's pub session when I go into people's houses...

I'm now exactly 24 hours without a cigarette!!!!

Having smoked a minimum of 20 a day for the last 26 years, I've had a few dreams recently about how nice it would be to be out with my family and not wanting to smoke, so I decided, last Thursday, that enough was enough and I was going to quit. I booked myself a hynpotherapy session for yesterday lunchtime and am now a non-smoker biggrin

I've had a few monster cravings with some proper light headed moments, but even then, I really, really don't want to smoke!

Great, keep it up! 5 months in for me and I don't even think about it anymore. I was in the Netherlands wih work recently with a smoker and I was happy to have a drink and chat to her while she smoked but I wasn't even tempted. Business trips have been the hardest for me in the past as I've given up, went away and ended up on 10 a day by the second day.

There will be hard days and other days where you just don't think about it so just try and resist the urges on the hard days!

After a 20 a day/33 year habit, I started vaping three and half weeks ago and haven't had a smoke since.

I'm now going to lower the nicotine levels at regular intervals and pack that in as well.

Hardest bit? Oddly, it's not actually having the ciggie that's been the hardest part - it's the actual act of going for a smoke that was the weirdest thing to get my head round.

Anyway, well done everyone else - let's hope I can make this stick.

Well done chaps. Keep it up.

Today marks 5 weeks for my wife and I. I dipped in and out of vaping over a 6 month period but it wasn't really for me. Patches and the feeling of being utterly fed up with smoking made it possible. Did the patches for 2 weeks so been off any kind of Nicotine for 3 weeks now.

Just got passed the four week mark, to be honest though I was having a session at the pub the other week and did have two cigarettes, But they don't count, right? smile

I have been vaping but doing that less and less, in fact I left my E-cig in the car one afternoon last week and didn't even realise I didn't have it until the next morning, and didn't retrieve it until lunchtime.

I have barely used it in the last 24hours either, I don't even take it out with me unless I am going for a pint.

Day 1422 for me and it does get easier to deal with, the vast majority of the time I don't think of it but there are times when I think I'd love one.

I recently visited cologne and the pubs there switch to smoking after normal hours end, it was very tempting to have a ciggy but I knew it would be the beginning of the end. The next day I picked up my clothes off the floor and the stench that came off them reminded me of how much being a smoker makes you stink.

The main thing is just to keep at it. If you do fall off the wagon and have one try and give up again as soon as you can.

You know what..I am not sure!
The figures on my little bottle mean nothing to me??
PG-80%
VG-20%
10ml 1.8%

I assume it is the 1.8% but not sure what the other figures are, apart from the 10ml, obviously.

(E-cig has been in the car again since yesterday lunchtime and I am not feeling the need to rush out there and grab it)

PG = Propylene Glycol
VG = Vegetable Glycerin

18mg then I think - same as me at the moment.

I did try some 6mg stuff the other night but I just went through two batteries in about 15 mins as I was permanently puffing away.

I'm doing really well!

I haven't touched a cigarette since I went to hypnotherapy on Monday morning and, to be honest, haven't really had the horrific withdrawal symptoms I was worried about. Yes, there have been a few nicotine cravings, but nothing too severe and, even then, I just haven't wanted to smoke.

My wife and I even went out to dinner with some friends (who both smoke) last night and it didn't really bother me at all when my mate popped outside for a quick puff.

I did have one weird episode today though...

I have been working at home today and found myself walking from the study to the kitchen at about 4pm, thinking to myself "I'll just have a quick puff before my next call". halfway down the hallway, I jolted to a stop as my mind kind of "re-set" itself (a bit like a mega bit of static on a TV set). All was fine after that and I'm back to my normal non-smoker self again. It was weird, though!!!!

Yep. Just one hour long session of Hypno seems to have completely stopped me. No patches, no gum, no vapes, nothing. It's like the whole urge to smoke has just.... gone.

He gives free backup sessions if you fall off the wagon, but at the moment, I don't even feel like I'm on a wagon and having to try.

The guy that I saw did also do sessions for confidence etc, so if you are struggling it may be worth looking into trying

Who was your smoking hypno-thing with? Could do with trying something fresh. I seem to justify in my head that I can give up when I go a few days without when of course I can't or else those few days would be forever.

It was a local hypnotherapist here in Newbury. I just did a Google search, came across this site (http://www.hypnotherapy-directory.org.uk/) and picked the practitioner that "felt right".

Dear god, there's thousands of 'em! I want to give something new a go, but driving to work I also hear an advert along the lines of "become a fully qualified hynotherapist at Gimp's College in just 3 months". Maybe I should do the course myself and self-treat.

I dropped a pin in the yellow pages and visited the random hypnotherapist it landed on, on 27 March 1992. I went from 20 Marlboro to zero instantly. Still haven't had another cigarette.... Just try it...GOOD LUCK
