We cremated my Dad on Thursday, after all the cigars and the fact that he hated gardening, particularly digging, it's what he would have wanted!
My biggest fear was delivering the eulogy. I agonised over a fortnight about what to write, how I would deliver it and even if I would be able to manage to do so. It was my intention to lighten the mood of the service without being disrespectful. I managed it in the end. No notes just spoke from the heart. A very difficult few minutes but I am glad I did it. Got a few good giggles which we all needed.
The tributes have been ongoing, he volunteered on the East Lancs Railway as he loved steam trains. They had wreaths and flowers on every engine yesterday. Didn't think seeing a bunch of flowers would be quite so moving but I am getting used to the random outbursts of emotion!
It frustrates me that life is supposed to get back to normal now. I don't know what normal is supposed to feel like yet.

You know everyone posting on all sorts of subjects some serious some funny when just under the surface some of us or our close family are battling with f
king cancer , and yet from some of the posts you see now that you know what that person is going through its quite amazing that people clearly still keep their humour
