While I'm on.............

I started a topic 'Radical Radiotherapy - for the Prostate' last week. Currently on page 2 of Health Matters http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a...

I am trying to decide whether to go for it and basically was asking if anyone had experienced it. If anyone here cares to comment it would be appreciated.
Haven't had what you've got, but have you tried any of the specialist Cancer forums.?
I have thanks matey - just trying to go for as broad a range of opinions as poss. Pretty much decided to go for it - and beat the bxggxr completely!!!

Neith - sorry to hear about your brother. 24? That's cancer just really taking the piss, frankly.

Celticstevie - sorry to hear about your Dad. I'd like to say something positive, like "At least he had some time". But it's never enough time, is it?

And as a counter to Neither and celticstevie's bad news, my mate had his however many months check up this week. He's all good, so there are some of us who can beat this hideous disease. Good news from ecain as well - Semper Fi, as our colonial cousins would say (although per mare, per terram is a much better motto...)

My friend has finished her first course of chemo and radiotherapy for a brain tumor, but is messaging me saying she's being really sick all the time.
Her GP prescribed omerprazole which hasn't helped, Macmillan didn't have any new suggestions and she's not seeing her oncologist for 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? Practical help or advice please?

Sorry to hear that northandy, my condolences too.

My mum was hit by two lots of cancer in the last couple of years & was in remission for both, but recent check ups have found one of them has returned, but before she can begin chemo again they also found she has a pulmonary embolism, so she has to get that treated first.

My condolences northandy.

My 25 year old brother has just been given the all clear after 6 months of treatment for stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma.

The whole family are so pleased, and a few beers are on the cards this weekend.

Unfortunately we are losing a good friend... OH thought she would grow old with her and our kids would be friends.

She got a stage 2 brain tumour with grade 3 nuggets, they removed it and gave her chemo.... then it came back a year later in force to stage 3 and 4, she has had 2 more surgeries to clear her head of it.

so far 4 surgeries and several courses of chemo, steroids and radio therapy to try and help.

Just been told tonight she is bed ridden and now blind in one eye and is not with it or lucid for much of the time, they don't think she will survive very long...

I have immediately booked flights for OH to say goodbye, if not for her friend but to have closure if she did not... not something I would have expected to do for her as OH's friend is only 36.

not really knowing what to type or say as I lost my nana on saturday... this weekend has not been a good weekend for us.

I have no words that will even begin to assuage any of your losses. November is coming up and it's the first anniversary of my brother and grandmothers death....

What I will say is bless you all that are getting through it and bless those who have died. There is nothing more that we can wish for than to be remembered with Love.

I hope, one day-when my time comes, that I will be remembered thus.

Nice words mate yes

November sees the first anniversary of Mum's death too weeping Some of you may have seen the thread in The Lounge, where I'm marking the anniversary by holding a fund raiser for Marie Curie to say thank you for making Mum, and others, so comfortable in their last days.

My sister lost her 4 year battle with bowel cancer on the 25 September, leaving behind a husband and 2 boys at 7 & 8. She was 35. Pretty much a year to the day ago we were setting off on a family holiday to Dubai. Time really does fly.

Won the battle the first time round but came back spread and progressed to stage 4 cancer. She was in & out of the hospice and to & from hospital as well. She died at home surrounded by family and friends. Just glad the pain & suffering she endured especially in the last few months is over.

The fu**er of a disease took my dad last year so I hope I never have to know any of my family or close friends having to go through the same as both my sister and dad went through in the last few years. I hope some karma can come back around especially for my mum and she can enjoy 2015 as much as she can.

Just noticed your reply today.

Thats fantastic to hear. How has your health been in general since your treatment? Any side effects from the treatment?

This past year has been terrible on my family seeing someone we love deteriorate so quickly losing all their hair/beard. I'm glad its finally over.

Not sure if this thread is what I need to be reading or avoiding given the mix of outcomes.

On August 28th my then 3 year old son (had his 4th birthday 2 weeks later) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocitic Leukaemia. We were discharged from hospital last week after his induction therapy went well. However, we have just been told that he is in the high risk category for reoccurrence so another 11 weeks of intensive chemo will be starting tomorrow.

Initially I thought I was dealing with it well but this latest "fork in the road" (as it was described by one of the doctors) has really knocked me.
