Lower back ache on ab exercises
Discussion
Specifically floor wipers.
Anyone else get this? Woke up today with an annoying ache in both my abs..which is okay but also the lower back. I don't think I am doing anything wrong, the gym staff were there. They usually tell people when their form is off.
I was holding a bar around the weight of 25kg if that makes a difference.

Uh-huh. You mean windscreen wipers I think.
I think you've overstretched your internal obliques by rotating too far. The insertion is quite far round the lower back (thorocolumbar fascia). Try to keep your hips and lower back on the floor and technique strict. Use as light a bar as possible, it will work your core more. WWs are an odd exercise in that if you increase the weight on the bar the exercise itself becomes easier(up to a point).
Floor wipers! haha

Any exercise where your legs are together and you move them side to side is a version of a windscreen wiper. Doing them with a barbell @10kg each side and a 5kg dumbbell between your feet is very awkward. This version is a bit easier but it's more fun:
