I'm 3 weeks into my training/diet programme and feeling great for it. Lost 9 lbs in the first 2 weeks and then just 1 lb this week - which was disappointing. But, I am feeling better and seeing some differences. The waist is certainly a little smaller and I think I am down to just 3 chins instead of the usual 4/5. But also seeing a marked improvement in shoulders, biceps and traps.

My current scales are bog standard weight scales and it got me thinking that perhaps the slow down in weight loss is because I am building some muscle at the same time as losing some fat? So would a set of scales that measure body fat, etc.. be a good investment and if so, any recommendations on which ones to go for? I hear that they tend to fluctuate a lot and are not that reliable.

Any thoughts?

I personally wouldn't waste my money on body fat scales. I don't think they're reliable and I don't know why you'd want you know if you were putting on muscle weight or fat weight? Surely you should be able to tell given a period of time? smile

Weekly/monthly photographs and a tape measure will tell you all you need to know. smile

A basic set of scales and a tape measure and photographs, as said above.

Bodyfat scales are not accurate enough to tell you exactly but they will allow you to follow trends over a long period of time.
