Hi everyone, hoping someone has tips on how to beat this, currently 24 hours in to this virus and I am still vomitting constantly and peeing out my butthole!

I just cant keep fluids down and starting to feel bit dehydrated I think.
How long does this go on for? Any remedies worked for you?

You need to make sure you stay hydrated. The electrolyte type drinks (or a soluble powder from the doctor) is best.

diaoralite, or how ever you spell it, is good, as it replaced a lot of stuff you loose when sweating and 'peeing out ya arris'

lucozade sport or powerade if you cannot get any of the above would be better than nothing.

Just be aware that it's very contagious through contact with your emissions - you don't want to be giving it to anyone else.

Tried Lucozade but it comes straight back up, currently trying flat lemonade, seems to be staying down slightly longer than water and Lucozade.
I feel a total tool as I heard about norovirus before but though 'It cant be that bad can it??' now I know just how bad it is, my stomach is cramped from all the wretching, agony.

is that the fizzy lucozade or the non fizzy 'sport' stuff.

as its not just flavoured suger water, its got other 'stuff' in it aswell that you loose when sweating and im guessing when you explode out of both ends, where as the fizzy original one even says on the side of the bottle 'not suitable for replacing fluids lost from diarrhoea'

The non fizzy sport stuff, the lemonade seems to be helping as the gas is making me burp which is relieving the trapped wind. It is reassuring to know that you guys have come out the other side of this ok, as it feels like it will never end frown even passed out during the Moto Gp

It took me a couple of days to stop exploding out of each end and another day before I could face any food at all. I just drank water, I could cope with that, couldn't face anything else.

yeah at one point last night I gave up on dignity of any form and lay in the bath with the shower running (i am poor so dont have a seperate shower) and let nature take its course, not a proud moment lying in st and puke frown

As above. We recommend dioralyte (or any other oral rehydration therapy). Most good supermarkets or any boots etc should stock it. Failing that, the locozade sport suggestion is sensible. Flat coke - yes, but add a teaspoon of salt. If you can't get to the shops, 1l of water, teaspoon salt, tablespoon sugar.

Hand hygeine is key so your family don't catch it. Stay away from A&E unless you truly are dying - it spreads like wildfire. Expect 48hrs of bum-water antics at the very least!

Last time I hadnorovirus I remember been naked in the bathroom, vomiting down the toilet in a doggy position.....the force of the vomit cause st to shoot out of my arse and coat the new bath rug laugh

You have my sympathies, the only thing worse than norovirus is the taste of the rehydration medicine hurl

Oh yes, i spent a lovely few hours like that once waiting for my flat mate to get home. I couldn't leave the shower for more than 2 minutes for the first hour so couldn't even get to my phone to call for help.
Thankfully not novo as it was all over in about 18hours but it was bad enough.

Thanks everyone, finally light at the end of the tunnel, the sickness stopped after midnight, however my stomach is cramping up from all straining, may have a six pack by the end of this!

The diarrhoea is still horrific but as long as there is a bathroom nearby it is manageable.
I have been on the Lucozade sport and probiotic yoghurt which seems to be helping, must be on the mend as I am craving scrambled eggs on toast and a curry smile

Glad to hear you are getting over worst of it.
Some good rehydration advice posted too.
As someone who has lots of diarrhea experience through almost 20yrs of Crohn's Disease I have tried most of them.
Full fat coke as suggested-stir with a fork for 5 minutes as it is best way to lose the fizz, and added salt as mentioned.
Slice or 2 of dry toast also helps.

Thanks everyone, pleased to report the worst has passed, managed scrambled eggs on toast last night and toast today, the flat lemonade seemed to agree with my guts more than Coke (I love coke tho), even the diarrhoea has stopped this morning.

To anyone who catches thus virus or anyone who suffers long term gastro or bowel problems, I now have a small understanding of the difficulties you face frown

One thing to take away from this 'Never trust a fart'
