Yeah, I don't see too many people deadlifting 230 or over in my gym.

My deadlift always goes up when my squat goes up. So i'd say squat more!

Heavy leg presses are good accessory work for improving your drive off the floor.

So if your sticking point is just after you crack the bar off the floor, more power in the driving aspect could help.

Thanks guys, really useful advice there. I'll look at focussing on the drive, start to build my reps up at 230 then look to push on.

Much appreciated.

Good point, generally in the lower part of the lift, quite often it will break from the floor but the part immediately after that becomes a struggle.
Perhaps an 18" deadlift routine would help.

GHR: 3 sets against bands
Ab roll outs (20kg plat on back): 3 sets

Glute pain slowing me down due to inadequate warm ups, but definitely had another rep. Not happy with my st counting.... 210kg for 10 next week.

My Mass Gainer has started to give me the trotts in the morning...odd as I have been taking it for a while for no side effects.
Any idea why this has happened?

I am switching from ON to MyProtein gainer now as I am stting my gains away down the toilet.

I'm no expert but your back doesn't appear to be straight, and your shoulders look hunched.

Back is set solid in position, and I think my shoulders just look hunched due to bar placement and the fact I look downwards when squatting rather than keep my head back. I'm happy enough with tech.

Here's one with a grey hoody, from a different angle- might make more sense of what I've said above: www.instagram.com/p/BQPfY2KBMxU

Ah yes, I see. Can I ask why you prefer to look down?

Feels the better position for me, and keeps my upper back neutral and braced. I'm only really looking down near the top, the rest of the movement has head, chest/shoulder and abs/lower back lined up with each other.

As I am going to a commercial gym with my wife tomorrow, I wasn't going to train today - but it just seemed wrong to not do anything, so I did a lower back and leg friendly baby-workout just with mainly secondary compounds..

Back Extension - 2x20

Wide grip Pull Ups (neck to bar) - 60 reps (6 sets)
Close grip Bench Press (Hands 6" apart) - 5x12-7 reps

Wide grip Pull Ups (chest to bar) - 50 reps (5 sets)
DB Cross-Bench Pullovers - 4x12-9 reps

Chin Ups (Reverse grip - shoulder width) - 40 reps (4 sets)
Weighted Dips - 4x12-6 reps

Pull Ups (neutral grip) - 30 reps (3 sets)
Standing strict EZ BB Curl - 4x12-6 reps

Better than nothing...

Yesterday, nearly 2 hours on the turbo Zwifting, legs felt great. Today, my first trip to the gym this week, crazy crazy pump. Still mostly machine work, was soooo tempted with some weighted dips and pull ups but resisted temptation biggrin Top of my back still very very sore, in fact stabbing pain at times. Dr appointment booked for next Wed, hopefully for a referral to see a specialist to try and get it sorted. Bit pissed because I feel so strong!

5x10 @180kg paused box squats.
Nose bleed on first set :/
Then crashed after last set, necked a can of full sugar monster pre workout. Never again!

No training for 3 days now. Missed training yesterday with a cold that I haven't yet shaken. Does mean I can go to the gym with one or more of my brothers tomorrow (assuming I am still alive).

jogged 6km in 45min Wed evening, followed by 15 mins of push ups, sit ups and planking
jogged 7km in 45min Thur evening
Planning to jog another 7km this evening, but will do a 800m run in the middle. I'm curious what time an aching, unfit, non running, 42 year old can run 800m in. I might just keep the running going with a couple of runs a week and start 800m racing for fun in the summer. When I was 17 I could run 800m in under 2 mins. I am the same weight today.
