@Johnny

How's the back going mate?

Your training looks good and it must be strong to military press 65kg smile

Today was a quick circuit before work. Every minute on the minute for ten mins.

Push ups x10
K/bell sumos x10

Then a quick mile on the running machine.

Yeah, it's good thanks! Managed one rep at 70kg the other day. Back feels strong.

Training has been going really well, trying to vary things as much as possible. Just work that keeps getting in the way but I might as well grab all the OT I can while it's there... Got exciting st to pay for!

Yours has been looking good too! smile

Legs day... fking brutal. I hate training legs at the best of times.

We worked up to squats doing 8 reps to 120kg, sticking with 4 sets of 8, moved on to hamstring curls and leg raises and then calves.

We finished on squats, fst-7s on 60kg. It was horrendous. 15 reps each, no rest, 7 sets. Legs already felt shot before I started. My form on the last 2-3 sets was erm questionable. smile

Anyone looking for a sadistic legs day, do your normal routine with some fst's at the end. Punishment.

Great stuff mate. I'm a big fan of active recovery hence the running for my dodgy ankle. Going to up my runs to 5k now and see how it holds up smile

It's funny, legs day has now become my favourite day. Absolutely brutal during the workout but no other body part gives you the burn like legs!

Should I train? or Not? Yes, no, yes, no.

Large does of caffeine...

Now I'm committed.

Probably shouldn't have though! First squat session for months on wednesday meant my legs were DOMS'd to 11, OH all body session yesterday meant I was a bit fked up all over, with some bicep curls (as I've decided I need 18in arms - they needs to be as big or bigger than the wheels on your car gents!) meant my forums were a bit fked too. But I can't train till tuesday as I'm at the UKSCA conference all weekend, so...

First lift of the day... 7s at 195kg DLs. First two sets fine, but my forearms were screaming so I used straps for the last set and exhausted I didn't get the last rep. Gutted. Felt sick. Still I'm going to put it down to fatigue and progress to 8s next time anyway as 6s felt easy last time.

10 mins rest still feel fked up so I just do 3 x 8 at 100kg bench - easy. 3 sets of low row for 8. easy. 3 x 5 bw chins. easy. Still exhausted though!

Day 3, week 2>

Squat:
220kg x 2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3
Bench:
120kg x 2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3

Recovery time is getting better with the 2 min rest, but I think this is possibly the hardest program I've ever tried. Doesn't look like much on paper, but it's tough- more of the same tomorrow.

Still having quad issues (I think originating from IT band) and squatting with anything reasonable weight-wise feels like something is going to give.

But:

Trap-bar deadlifts (no belt): 15 x 170kg (determined to get 20 x 180kg before my days are out!)

Incline bench: 15 x 110kg

Weighted dips: 10 x +50kg (a PB for me I believe)

What %age of you max is this?

Some good thing from the last two sessions:

5/3/1 squat: 70/80/92.5kg
5/3/1 bench: 50/55/60
6x3 @ 20kg DB shoulder press
7x3 pull ups

Loads of pbs. Only thing that's gone backwards is my deadlift. Really trying to tidy up the form which has meant dropping back a bit but starting to swing back now.

approx. 80% of 1 rep max for squats and bench, and about 75% for deads and strict press (should be 80 for all, but wanted to be a bit more conservative for deads & strict)

0530. Day 1, week 3>

Squat:
220kg x 2,2,2,3,3,3,3,3
Bench:
120kg x 2,2,2,3,3,3,3,3

Rests extended a bit between the last 3 squat sets- felt great for the first 5 sets, then just ran out of energy. Very hard work again.

BW sitting at 100kg now, biggest I've ever been- not fat either, which is nice. Eating 4000+ calories just now, which is probably needed as training is killing me!

Bloody hot in my conservatory the last few days!

Training every day at the moment which feels great. Enjoying the mix of weights and kettlebell circuits then using the running machine for my ankle rehab.

Today was a 400rep circuit at reps 25,21,18,15,12,9. Using 25kg ez curl bar + 32kg kettlebell.

press
curls
push ups
sumo's

Then 4x25 kb swings before using the running machine to finish off.
