I'm a little chuffed for a couple of reasons today

Week 7, Day 3 - StrongLifts 5x5

Squat - 5x5 @ 75kg
Bench Press - 5x5 @ 52.5kg
Barbell Row - 5x5 @ 55kg

Firstly, my first ever body weight squats.

Secondly, I was grabbing a quick shower after the gym earlier and the wife came in and said that she can really see that I'd filled out. I look much broader. Thanks love smile

The squats are heavy (for me) but at no time did I ever feel like I was going to fail. I actually found the 4th and 5th sets enjoyable knowing that I'd met this small milestone and was going to be able to get over it.

Bench was surprising easy but I need to make sure that I'm not complacent for the next session. Much stronger than the last bench session.

Row was surprising in I felt I had to work the hardest for what I've always seen as one of the easier lifts.

Anyway - chuffed about the squats.

One thing that was commented on by one of the guys today is, relatively, my range of motion for squats is huge. I'm 5'11 and have long legs proportionally. He said my RoM is double his. He's 5'8, 100kg with stumpy legs. He squats 200kg happily.

Train someone else mate - If I had you as my mentor, I'd be working my nuts off.

Think about it.

OH Press - 5/5/4/5/4 @ 40kg

Looks like you're making good progress mate. What are your rest periods for OH press?

3 minutes after a completed set. 5 minutes after a failed set. As the App suggests and probably why I complete the 4th set ok (just) after the extra 2 minutes rest. If I gave it 5 minutes for each rest, I could probably hit the 3rd & 5th sets - maybe...

For the other lifts, I usually get ready to go again after 2 minutes as I'm not having any major issues with them yet. I'll go to 3 minutes when I'm struggling.

Squatted today.
4 x 1 at 190kg - took its toll on my back though. Didn't hurt sitting the movement just when I was holding the weight before the lift. I took this as it's okay to lift but I'm regretting it a bit now. Got a long weekend holiday coming up so I think I'll rest till we get back.

Tried to bench press and my shoulder wouldn't let me.

ab roll outs
3 x 12

Week 9, Day 2 - StrongLifts 5x5

Squat - 5x5 @ 97.5kg
Bench Press - 5,5,3,4,4 @ 35kg dumbbells
Barbell Row - 5x5 @ 65kg

Squats were relatively easy considering I only did 5x5 95kg on my third attempt. Managed to do 5x5 97.5kg first try.

Last squat was the hardest I've ever done..

Bench with 35kg dumbbells wasn't the best. Really need to switch to the Olympic bar to do chest.

Barbell row is getting towards my limit
