I'm not a doctor, but i'm pretty sure you have swelling on the distal bicep tendon. If you're lucky it's just through overuse (tendonosis) and not a tear.

There are two ways to find out - one is to have someone do an ultrasound scan or MRI and actually look at the tendon, and the other is to wait and see. If you give it complete rest for at least 2 weeks, and ice several times a day it should get noticeably better if it's tendonosis. If it's a tear it will take much longer.

I would recommend getting one of those elastic elbow braces too.

But you must rest it. If you dont you might have a niggling issue with that tendon for a year or more, even if it's not a tear.

Thank you again smile. I will give it rest, and just concentrate on leg work for the next couple of weeks.

Ermmm....... hard to say because I wear the same shoes all the time where as other people have special shoes haha.
I'd say something that you're comfortable walking in tbh.
And for grip, when you go down to pick it up (this is going to be hard to explain biggrin), instead of just grabbing it, turn your wrists so they go right under. As you pick it up it will lock your grip in.
So instead of the farmers walks looking like | | when you pick it up, they'll be more / \.
Hope you understand? biggrin
I so, but read this too late!
Hadn't got a clue on technique! Plus I misjudged the turning point. Didn't take lead but the fella said it was a good effort and my poor turning probably cost me the win.😃

About 110 metres. He shouted to start turning but I didn't I turned on the line and the things banged my legs then they started to wobble in my grip which led to me ditching them. Might have cost me precious metres.
Felt ace though.
I just wore my new Karimor 3DOs.
The weight was fine too, I had no idea how it would feel. Back, legs lungs all OK< it was just the grip!

Normally it's a drop and turn making it easier.
Very good for a first time though!
70-90kg is normally the weight fastest time in 20m for a novice strongman, you should enter a comp biggrin

The guy who runs the gym is a proper unit, and used 90kg. biggrin
It's a fun thing I might try next time I'm there. I fancy a go at the atlas stones.

90? Pah, 130kg+ is where it's at tongue out

I highly suggest you implement strongman, not only is it fun, it works a lot of muscles and burns a lot of calories biggrin

More leg work tonight:

Squats - 7 sets - felt good with 140kg, was going to try 150, but knowing my luck, I'd hurt something, so thought better of it...for now..

Calf raises - 4 sets

Leg Raises - 5 sets

Leg Curls - 5 sets

Deadlift - 4 sets ending with 5x100kg

Step daughter arrived tonight, and sad the worst thing ever - I looked too thin! yikes

All those months of effort... hehe

Managed to squeeze in a quick bike ride before all hell breaks loose. 35km 400m of elevation and just over 30kph average. Felt good considering yesterday's effort on the turbo.

Take this chance just to wish everyone on the 'what training' thread, a merry christmas and successful training in the new year! Remember people, pain is only temporary. Failure is forever. smile

Boxing day special at my gym yesterday. The 12 days of christmas:

With 20kg barbell

1. 50 mountain climbers
2. squat thrusts
3. floor to ceiling lift
4. squats
5. press ups
6. burpees
7. shoulder press
8. leg raises
9. bent over row
10. sumo high lift
11. sit ups
12. thrusters

You do 1, then 1 and 2, then 1,2 and 3 etc etc. The reps are determined by the number, apart from the mountain climbers.

I have done bascially nothing but drink for a week. I really thought I was going to spew! Folowed by 3 rounds of squat jumps/holding squat position, shoulder press/holding press and burpees/plank.

I really don't think it was as hard as I made it look. Managed to finish before my girlfriend at least....

The Iron Pit, the local strongman type gym has atlas stones and a log press.

What weight do you use on log press Smiffy? And what work with the stones have you done?
