Think I'm going to buy a belt. Lifting reasonable numbers and wanna try one of for size. Also if i compete this year I might as well use all the help I can get! Not cheap for a decent one though - best part of £100
I have my solid 3¾ lever PL belt. Frpm years back from Pullum, solid...but it digs in too much for deadlifts. I have a velcro Lonsdale belt that I acquired, it's OK for high rep work. I took a look for deadlift belts after reading Rip's article.Think I'm going to buy a belt. Lifting reasonable numbers and wanna try one of for size. This one on Pullum

These ones from strengthshop
https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/belts/single-double...
https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/belts/lever-buckle-...
I have one of these - it's proper
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scorpion-Power-Lifting-Com...
I also have a flexible neoprene one which i use for deadlifts - i only use the big chunky one on the heaviest sets of squats
The prongs are too short, when you tighten it right up and apply any kind of pressure, the prongs slip under the buckle and it bursts open. Sending it back for a refund. Lost confidence in the brand really as it could be pretty catastrophic if it burst open at the bottom of a 1RM squat!

Decent session today but without the belt!

I'd point you in the direction of some nice belts but I won't be getting them in stock for a while The prongs are too short, when you tighten it right up and apply any kind of pressure, the prongs slip under the buckle and it bursts open. - shameless plug*
Never seen one since so guessing I bought from a company going bust.
Arms and shoulders today:
Barbell Press - 5 sets of 5 with 53.5kg
Upright Row - 5 sets of 8-12 with 35-55kg (Was worried about these because of my arm, but wasn't too bad in the end...)
Reverse Grip Bent Over Row - 5 sets of 10-12 with 50-60kg (First time I have tried these, quite effective!)
Triceps Extensions - 4 sets of 8 with 32kg
Close Grip Bench Press - 4 sets of 7-9 with 60-62.5kg
Triceps Pull Downs - 4 sets of 10-12 with 32.5kg
Chin Ups - 4 sets of 7-9 reps
Reverse grip Pull Downs - 4 sets of 8-10 reps with 57.5kg
Preacher Curl (strict) - 3 sets of 9-11 reps with 42kg
Alternate Dumbbell Curls - 3 sets of 8 reps with about 17.5kg on each.
May just do some Squats and leg work tomorrow (Wednesday usually my day off), so that I can concentrate more on my deadlift on Thursday...

Even though I can't do a single thing with it rght now, I purchased a new belt, not a replacement, an accompaniment. The prongs are too short, when you tighten it right up and apply any kind of pressure, the prongs slip under the buckle and it bursts open. I'll think of it as my deadlifting belt. I assumed the position...and it felt good...yeah it was an 'air-deadlift' (and even that hurt/tired me out!!!) but the belt felt ace.
It's a tapered lever-action (my PL belt is lever-action and I don't see myself purchasing a spoke belt again...they are not no where near as handy/comfy) and it solid!!!!

But it is now too big for my waist, so I need another one. Is there one you could recommend, especially for deadlifting?

My last deadlift set involved a fair bit of rest pausing/deep breathing but I'm fairly confident of a 240kg pull now. Will max in a fortnight.
If you weigh less than 93 kg, tape it and out it in the Strongman record wiki.Halb said:

I don't want a lever
I don't want tapered
I want real leather
I think I'm going to go for the leather RDX one

Best let Smiffy know he needs to add his name to his stats and vids. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
His weight seems to fluctuate too.
