What training are you doing/have you done today? Vol.2
Discussion
Stick with it young man.
My main training over the last few years has been lung-bursting, acid buffering, ahole breathing stuff, did the 10,000 KB swing challenge and the 1,000 KB snatch challenge last Feb. So my maximal numbers haven't been that good, but my conditioning was pretty top. Though I've not done any recently. It was the hardest session I've had in the gym in recent memory. I used to do a similar 20 rep routine when I needed to work out in a lunch hour. Back then I used to have brekky. So today I decided to break my fast earlier because I knew I'd need it and have a protein shake (water) and a banana. Using 5 minute rests like I used to. But I reckon I didn't leave myself enough time to digest, felt weak on the bench and by the time I was on the press I felt queasy. So I doubled my break time to ten and chose a blue mat to lay on in my rests like a dying wasp, stomach heaving in and out.
My old Bear routine had 30 second rests. I tried it last October, I needed 3 minute rests...

Just been plodding on doing what I usually do this week. Nothing of consequence to report, really.
One thing I learned was that if I decide to do all of my main compounds (lifting at the limit of what you can do) in one session, I most definitely be OK for another session the next day....Idiot…

Here's the British Drug Free records
Full Power (3 lifts) record seems to be 165 for the 90kg M1, singles record is 162.5 for the 90kg and 220.5 for the 100kg class.

You should go set a record if you think you're up to it

Nie stats.
I wound up on Mag Samuelson's page yesterday; after reading about GoT, then Thor, then Mag after I saw a question about Thor's weight, since they are the same height yet THor's listed weight is 100lbs heavier.
I noticed Mag's PRs, numbers that just seem cloud high to me now (and even back when I did lift heavy) but his deadlift, seems weirdly low in comparison!
Squat: 375 kg
Bench press: 300 kg (200kg for 11 reps!!!!)
Deadlift: 350.45 kg

Magnus was definitely known more for his amazing upper body strength. There's a video of him somewhere breaking 300lb WWE wrestlers arm in an arm wrestle.
WSM event. Back when it was popular on TV. I watched that back then, fantastic to watch. Nathan is a giant, but Mag was an arm-wrestling champ. Not been on PH really lately, also not really been keeping track of training as much.
Had a good session last week with my old PT to get my dealift form on point, really helped I think.
Been hitting legs a bit more, at least some most sessions to begin with. And cycling more.
Friday 35.5 miles on the road bike.
Yesterday
Incline Bench 5x8@60kg
Smith Decline Bench 5x8@80kg
Bench 5x8@60kg
Incline DB Flys 5x12@14kg
Superset x5: Press Pullover@14kg/DB Press@14kg
Cable Woodchops 3x20/side at 15kg
5 mins run at 9.5km/h
Today 51.5 miles on the road bike, 2200ft of climbing.

Did the usual this week, but am now thinking that 6 days a week for almost 4 months is starting to catch up with me, especially as the weight increases. I think I'll go back to 4 day split next week, concentrating mainly on 5x5 compounds.
Anyway, today, instead of doing loads of silly tricep and bicep isolations, I thought I'd concentrate more on my shoulders and delts, so tried some new stuff:
Barbell Press - 5 sets of 5-8 reps (50-60kg)
Barbell Shrugs - 5 sets of 10-18 reps (100-120kg)
Upright Rows - 5 sets of 8-10 reps (30-50kg)
Rear Delt Fly's - 5 sets of 10-12 reps (first time I have tried these, so 7-10kg on each dumbbell, beat that, Smiffy! )
Face Pulls - 5 sets of 10-12 reps
Chin Ups - 4 sets of 8-14 reps
Superset:
Triceps Pull Downs (with new rope) - 4 sets of 10-12 reps (30-35kg)
Cheat Curls (Wanted to go as heavy as possible) - 4 sets of 7-10 reps (50-57.5kg)
Enjoyed today's session - makes a big difference when the routine's changed
Oh, and Deadlifts were Ok yesterday, managed to do 4 reps with 140 and a final set with 150kg again. Would love to be lifting 180 before the end of the year - when I can do that, I'll then take myself seriously!
