Yep - Well done ChrisW, PBs are always awesome...

1 x 1 at 135kg
1 x 1 at 140kg
1 x 1 at 147.5kg - PB
1 x 1 at 150kg - failed (got cocky)
2 x 2 at 120kg fast

Bench row
1 x 8 at 110kg
1 x 6 at 120kg
2 x 6 at 130kg

Standing OH Press

Neutral grip chins

Training continues to go very well, all the stuff at the gym is going great guns. Would like to go a bit more often but compromised for time. Strength levels are up - 105kg on the bench now seems fairly trouble free. Got my seated shoulder press up to 180lb - really enjoying that at the moment. Finally got some decent sensations in the legs for the bike, last Sunday did a 70km ride with plenty of climbing and averaged nearly 34kph, and some decent rides in the week too.

Pissed down this morning so swapped over the bike for the gym. Felt weird going to the gym early morning, however it was a very productive workout in the end. More importantly, found this parked up in the gym carpark on my way out.

Brightened up a fairly stty dank Sunday morning.

Anyhow, weather cleared in the evening - did a pretty brutal hour and a half on the bike - 650m of climbing and an average speed of 31kph. Chuffed with my effort.

Beautiful old motor.
I used to see an old Porche wizz about a local town near us a while back. Not seen it for years though.

Gone up to a heady 64 kilos on the squat biggrin

Think I will get another pair of 20 kilos disks and gradually up the weight a bit, and decrease the reps, been doing 5 sets of 10, will get it to 70 next and do say 5 sets of 8 reps.

I have noticed I am standing up straighter since starting doing squats, is that typical ?

Today at the gym, mostly I was awesome.

Squat shoes; check.
Belt; check.
Manta-ray; check.
Liquid chalk; check.
The nerd with all the kit and no clue! cool
Not sure how much help the equipment provides, but in my mind it made me invincible.

No PRs, but better than I've squatted in a good while.
OHP was not so hot - embarrassingly, the belt popped open on the second set. paperbag
Reverted to converse all stars for deads and was strong.

Pretty sure the do-wins helped on the pull-ups and ab rolls too - three good sets each anyway. hehe

Certainly possible. Posture may well improve once you get muscles working as they should.

If you like lots of sets/reps, look up GVT.
It's a killer, but if you eat enough it's effective.

There's a lot of scope to compromise form and technique using GVT, so in my opinion, it isn't a good idea for someone relatively new to training and only just starting to get to grips with techniques.

EDIT: Just seen Jacko's already doing a lot of volume so it may not be that bad an idea, still, don't underestimate what an extra 5 sets of ten reps will do to you hehe

That is glorious.

Went for my first climb for a few weeks on Saturday. Great fun but I could definitely do with loosing some weight! Hands/forearms are wrecked now. Starting my new routine properly tonight. Ran it for a week last month but was then on holiday for two weeks so think I'll just start again.

Tonight will be:

Deadlift 5x5 @ 110 (starting easy)

3 second Pause Front Squats - 4 x 5-6 @ 60 (these are brutal)

Bent over BB Row - 4 x 8-10 @ 75

Wide grip, overhand chins - 4 x failure

Should be a good evening!

Eating enough has never been an issue for me, hence my gut, but seeing a bit of an improvement, pants quite a bit looser, Monday mornings after a weekend of crap and beer meant they were getting super tight, had a few drinks on Sat night only, was getting to be 3 or 4 nights a week.

Am doing higher reps with lower weights to ease myself back into it and am concious that at the moment I am working solo in my man shed, I think I will look to go to the local leisure centre once a week, for the variety of equipment and to pick up tips, the great thing about the shed is that its down the garden and doesn't need planning though the local one is open long hours. Early days yet, trying to see this as a permanent change and not a flash in the pan.

Today I was half way through doing a shoulders and traps workout in front of my groupies when through the exit doors I saw some little guy who I genuinely thought was Harry Hill peering through the window of my car.

As I stood up to look closer it was indeed Harry Hill, now taking pictures of my car from different angles, by the time I had waded through the crowd of fans/well-wishers and hangers on, he had disappeared.

This put me off a bit, so I had to cancel my leatherette fingerless glove signing session and take my 911 home.

Oi mister, take us for a spin in her next time - I want to know what my crushed velvet tracksuit feels like against your leather seats.

Finished up with WestSide and started 5/3/1 Triumvariate again today. The volume on the assistance was a bit of a struggle but enjoying the change up. I'm still cutting pre-holiday (2 more weeks) so may see some drops in strength over the next fortnight as Wendler is nothing if not knackering!
