Heavy DB rows for the win IMO. (Heavy Kroc rows even better)
Cheers didely! The DB Rows it is, then (I like doing these less than Pendlays, so they must be better! hehe )! Will have to Google Kroc rows...

Just extra heavy DB rows with a bit of cheating more or less- they're great biggrin

Ah, OK, so if I did 60kg instead of just over 50, that would be a Kroc Row - I may try that...But if my arm falls off, I blame you! hehe

Right, quite a hard session, even though it doesn't look like much..

Squats:
5 sets of 5 reps with 80,100,120, 130 and 140kg
1 set of 3 reps with 150kg (probably one strict rep, TBH..)
1 Drop Set of 10 reps with 120kg - took me quite a while to recover my breath after that one..

Bench Press:
6 sets of 5 reps with 60-105kg
1 set of 4 reps with 110kg
1 set of 2 reps with 115kg

DB Rows:
4 sets of 10 reps with 52-57kg
1 set of Kroc Rows with 72kg (Holy Crap!), just 4 messy reps each side..

Lat Pull Downs - 4 sets of 9-12 reps (60-70kg)

Seated Pulley Rows - 4 sets of 10-12 reps (70-85kg)

Stiff Legged deadlift - 3 sets of 5 reps (100,110 & 120kg)

That was enough for one evening for my old bod...

Good work Chris- liking the way you're training (hard, with volume!)

Tonight was a good session>

Deadlift:
1x 180,200,220kg
5x 250kg (Rep PB, F*ck yeah! touch n go, and I dropped the weights at the end, don't be offended...)
Bench:
100,120,140kg
FFF 150kg
Close grip: 1x 140kg, 1x 150kg (pretty easy)
Decline EZ pull overs: 4 sets

Home. Not had a deadlift PB for a long time. Vid- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YhwBtJ3ans
Bench was poor... but it was wide grip, flared elbows (BB style) so I guess 140 was a PB for that tech. Close grip with tucked elbows went up quick, but it's not exactly a chest building technique!

Good. More training at 0530 tomorrow.

Those 250kg deadlifts are inspirational. I don't think I'll ever be able to get to that level!

What are 'FFF's'

Regarding the close grip Bench Press, I thought they were more a triceps exercise (one of the best due to the heavier weight used), rather than chest? I usually include them on arms and shoulders day, rather than chest..

Oh, and thank you for your kind comments! smile

Thanks smile keep plugging away and there's no reason you'd not get there, just takes a while!

F = fail. failed it 3 times... I'm a very triceps dominant presser, with a small & weak chest. Close grip lets me use my tri's effectively, wide puts it on to chest as the primary mover. My chest is getting stronger, but my tri's prefer to do the work if they get the chance! Only moved to close grip to press the dam 150- don't like failing biggrin

Time for bed now.

Morning Session>

Chest supported smith row: 8 sets
1 arm cable row: 4 sets
Wide chins: 3 sets
DB press: 4 sets
DB fly SS Cable Fly: 4 sets

Done. Not bad. This week has been a bit random training wise as the heavy session last night was the aim for the week, so everything else has been based around that. Back to normal next week, though I've no training partner for a couple of weeks.

I'm about to pick my 15 year old nephew up to take him to train...

He's already taller than me, now let's see if I can put some size on him. I'm gonna break him hehe

I'm a member at VA Twickenham which gives me access to most, if not all, the clubs.

When I want to get someone else in I just text my mate who's a PT and he meets us and lets us in biggrin

Mine plays rugby at Wasps (15 and was training last night with U19s who want him to play with them next season) and also does athletics. He's done some gym work at school so is pretty clued up.

He smashed it today... 5x5@40kg Military Press, 80kg Shrugs on the smith... Genuinely didn't expect him to press more than the bar for reps.

Today then:

Military Press 2x15@20kg, 2x10@40kg, 2x8@50kg, 2x6@60kg
Shrugs up to 120kg.
EZ Bar Upright Rows 5x10@40kg superset with small barbell front raises 5x10@ Not sure what weight...
Lat Raises 5x10@10kg.

Will, my nephew, did really well. Obviously he didn't do the same weight and was struggling with form on lat raises at the end but if he starts training hard now he'll be a fking beast by the time he's 18.

Like yesterday, I had quite a good session this evening - Am sure I sweated non-stop for the 90 minutes+

Just arms and shoulders today..

BB Strict O/H Press:
5 sets of 5 reps with 50-70kg (first time I managed 5 strict with 70..)
1 Drop Set of 8 reps with 60kg

BB Upright Rows - 5 sets of 10 reps with 40-52.5kg
Shoulder Shrugs - 5 sets of 10-16 reps with 110-130kg
DB Reverse Fly's - 4 sets of 10 reps

Narrow grip bench Press - 4 sets of 6-12 reps with 65-80kg (the 6 reps with 80 were real killers!)
Triceps Rope Pull Downs - 4 sets of 6-14 reps with 35-45kg

Heavy [For me] EZ Preacher Curl - 4 sets of 5-10 reps with 47-55kg
Reverse grip Pull Downs - 4 sets of 8-12 reps with 60-70kg

I had every intention of finishing off with a set of Deadlifts, but I think my body was telling to quit while I was ahead...

Were you asking me?

I'm not a crossfit member - pretty anti crossfit tbh but they will have the right kit. Just paying a 10er for an open gym.

Indeed I was, but thanks to Johnny for his answer as well.

I looked at crossfit, but the cost is frankly, ridiculous. They can fk off. biggrin

OK, not training as such but went to the Scottish Powerlifting Seniors yesterday. Some great lifting including multiple Scottish records and a few British ones too. Louise Murray (holds ALL records in 53 and 57kg class) has now moved up to 63 where she continues to annihilate everyone. 153kg squat was pretty damn impressive!

Other highlights included a record 315kg deadlift and a 47kg girl pulling 125kg! Seemed like a nice, friendly event.

Trained yesterday at the a14 crossfit in Newmarket. Did my usual speed deadlift session but also was pressured into trying to flip the as yet un flipped 420kg tractor tyre. I didn't flip it bit I got very close. Need to go back for another go!
