So, I have now moved house and am the proud owner of a double garage. Squat rack, bench, texas bar and weights arrive on Wednesday. biggrin

My plan is to try and go for some kind of 2 a day hypertrophy/strength split. Will probably take some experimentation to find out what works.
Nice bar choice- My gym has 4 of them- great bars smile

Ours just has the one but I'd not want to use anything else to deadlift.

I used to do weight training when in my teens (from 13-17/18), but since then, nothing until last May. I am sure I am now at the biggest I got when in my teens, and also around the same weight, although I have eclipsed what I could do back then (250lb BP, have now done 122.5kg in the past few weeks). I am quite small at 5'7", so don't expect 18" biceps and a 52" chest, I'm just having fun seeing how far I can go with age perhaps stacked against me..

The hyper bench is good, very stable (weighs 23kg) - I can see this becoming an essential piece of equipment.

ETA - I never did Deadlifts when I was younger, my dad never taught me those - the first time I ever tried them was this year!

ETA 2 - This is the bench, it is adjustable, and because I'm such a short arse, it's on its lowest setting!

same here, have never done deadlifts until recently, not looking for anything spectacular as I'm just addressing balancing up my core, think it adds well to functional fitness at this level but like anything I won't take it so far that it throws things out of balance.

must have been nice having your dad teach you some stuff, mine taught me lots but not in the gym smile

the calve pad on that bench makes me wince tbh, if you're around 100kg and like to carry 20 or 30kg I think it could be quite uncomfortable, the foam looks like that stuff that compresses with time to, I guess you could wrap extra wadding round it to spread the load.

T25 for me yesterday and then complete rest

4 mile run this arvo but temps are back up to 27º so no PBs i don't think

Right, I feel that perhaps I was starting to do too much, so will follow a 3 day per week Reg Park Power training routine for the next month or so.

Warm up:
Back Hyperextensions (with 10kg weight on chest)- 1x20 reps
Dumbbell Squats - 2 x 12 reps

Squats - 7 sets of 5 reps from 60-120kg - could still feel back isn't right, so didn't overdo it..

Bench Press - 5 sets of 5-8 reps with 60-110kg, followed by 1 rep with 120kg

Power Clean - 8 sets of 2 reps up to 80kg (will aim for at least 90kg in next 4 weeks)

Strict BB Overhead Press - 5 sets of 5 reps with 60kg (will go up 2.5kg each session)

EZ BB Standing Curl - 3 strict sets of 5 reps with 45, and 2 sets of cheat Curls with 55kg

Finished with another 2 sets of 11-20 reps of weighted Hyperextensions.

Enjoyed that!

Elbow rehab this morning as directed by my physio:

Rope pushdowns 3x30
Overhead rope extensions 3x30
Cable kickbacks 3x30
Decline pushups 3x15
'Step-ups' 3x15 (starting on floor in top pushup position, between two fit steps. 'Step' up onto right hand side, then left, with hands. The aim is to not move your torso, so elbows are bent on the steps).

I can well imagine. I remember your building threads, France I recall?

Ive seen some shockers in public gyms. There is no accounting for the scummy habits of some people.

Sitting in my office, I've a 17kg cast steel lifter thing- so far today I've done 400 seated tri extensions with it in sets of 50, aiming for 1000 by the end of the day. Passes the time.....

Squatted up to my opener, 205kg. Felt hard bit was always going to after over two weeks of no squatting. Knee pain was there but I'm hoping I've not made it worse.

Wasn't supposed to do anything today, was meant to have a strict 3 day per week routine.

Trouble is, I felt great today, didn't ache at all after yesterdays exertions, and it sounds strange, but I have become used to the mild aching, and if I don't feel it the following day, I feel I did not train hard enough! (As I de-loaded on most, I probably didn't..)

Anyway, just a few light ab and arm exercises..

Back Hyperextensions - 3 sets of 20 with one set with a 15kg plate held to my chest.

Sit Ups:
1 set of 60 with 7.5kg plate behind head
1 set of 120 reps

Hanging Leg Raises - 4 sets of 12 reps

Ab Crunches - 3 sets of 12 reps

DB Side bends - 4 sets of 12 reps each side

Triceps Rope Push Downs - 5 sets of 8-14 reps

Chin Ups - 3 sets of 12-20 reps

Triceps Dips - 3 sets of 25 reps

DB Concentration Curls - 3 sets of 8-9 reps

That feels much better!

Partook in a few Arm Wrestling rounds on weekend. I couldn't resist having listened to one of the guests at the do talk about his gym routine. The sort that clearly loves himself but doesn't look like all he does at the gym is take a sauna. HIm being much taller than me. He couldn't lose surely. When i say at the off i realised there was nothing there, I mean almost zero resistance so i went back and forth half a dozen times quickly to rub it in. Only to knock over a flower arrangement so i stopped. He then announced 'I win'.

Wasn't meant to be, only meant to do a few ab exercises for my rest day, but didn't seem enough. As this new power routine makes limited use of direct arm exercises, I figured a few today wouldn't hurt... Might do the same Thursday, depending how I feel. It does seem that bi's and tri's recover very quickly compared to other muscle groups..

@Burwood, brilliant, Re the arm wrestling!

It's a bit of a thing now. I went to a new Hotel opening last year. 300 of us were flown out to 'test run' the place. Fantastic event. Anyway, the marketing agency were there with two Male Models who do all the promo work-im talking the vainest men on earth. 23-25 tall and super cut. Like a fitness model look. I knew he would be keen on showing all the girls how manly he was (we were all pissed off our heads too). Well to say he was upset at looming defeat. He was screaming full on in my face. The phrase 'I never lose', literally screaming. In the end he stood up and used both hands! He still didn't think that was unfair and refused to accept a loss/foul.
