Loads of arms for me this morning, good heavy session. Cardio later on. Bi's measured just over 18" with a pump, so pleased with that. 19" next year!
Carb reefed tomorrow, most exciting day of the week
Bodybuilding is about concentrating on weak parts DD and your arms are hardly that Carb reefed tomorrow, most exciting day of the week
To give an idea of proportion, your calves should measure the same as your arms thereabouts.
(Not just saying this so I stay ahead in the arm size stakes either )
Eta: save being a hypocrite I just checked mine for first time in 20yrs I'm ok

What does that involve DD? Junk/cheat day or clean carbs?
Just add in a bunch of carbs into my normal diet- fruit, rice, potatoes and similar, not an excuse to binge on crap.Pvapour said:

It was arm day, so I'm limited with what to concentrate on Had a calf measure - 16.5" just now, so not far off unpumped bi's. Besides, when you have no 'strong' parts- everything's weak.... To give an idea of proportion, your calves should measure the same as your arms thereabouts.

Quads, chest, lats, bi's, delts - these tend to be the muscles people (me anyway) are drawn to. None of these on me are anything special- so that's what I'm putting the main focus on. Never understood the focus on weak parts approach- make your strong parts stronger, whilst upping your weak parts at the same time (as long as it stays in proportion)

Am I reading you right here diddely? I'm the opposite, in that the idea of focussing on the weak bits (not to the detriment of the strong bits) makes perfect sense to me.
If that wasn't what you meant, apologies!

sorry, was refering to your comment around going for bigger arms next year, i took that as a 'focus' for you and you not looking at the weaker areas, of course you want to be going for bigger arms just that calves need even harder workQuads, chest, lats, bi's, delts - these tend to be the muscles people (me anyway) are drawn to. bodybuilding IS about asthetic balance as i'm sure you'll agrree, they're are plenty of BBs out there with huge upper bodies and skinny leggs (not you obviously) that look ridiculous to me, they've probably given equal effort to all their body parts but its just that their leggs dont respond in the same way so lagg behind.
Think you mentioned (and dont mean for you to feel like I keep picking on your calves) you never really trained your calves?. in which case they'll probably respond really well anyway given equal effort. 16.5" is by no means small anyway in comparison to 18" cold for bis? developing the outer head alone will probably add an easy 1"
I wont say any more on the subject tho as now is not the time, I should be more empathetic about where you are right now, its a tough tough time and its going to get harder (nearly deleted all the above) and I think your drive to conditioning is exemplary, I've never tried to get that low in BF as the look doesnt suit me (it doesnt some people) but gone through the pain of pre comp so understand how you feel right now.
hows the routine coming along? have you strung some moves together yet? the vid I saw was of just one move with no transitions PM me if you prefer.

Reading right- Maybe the way I worded it though... what I was meaning was I've no strong points IMO, so I need to develop some before I can focus on weak points. No point focusing on something that's a bit under par when the 'show' muscles aren't up to scratch. I'll get these 'show' muscles standing out, then I'll work on other things.I'm the opposite, in that the idea of focussing on the weak bits (not to the detriment of the strong bits) makes perfect sense to me.

I enjoy your posts, very helpful and informative- from a voice of experience also, so they are very much appreciated, keep them coming Compliments are good for the ego, but not much use for focusing the mind and planning ahead. bodybuilding IS about asthetic balance as i'm sure you'll agrree, they're are plenty of BBs out there with huge upper bodies and skinny leggs (not you obviously) that look ridiculous to me, they've probably given equal effort to all their body parts but its just that their leggs dont respond in the same way so lagg behind.

I like the look of golden era bodybuilders- big bi's/lats/chest, decent (but not huge) legs and a small waist, Serge Nubert was close to perfect IMO. Lots of work to get there, so they'll be a shift in focus after the comp to a bit more mass in the areas I need it/want it (not just arms- Calves do need some attention though )
Routine is going OK, have it all worked out, just need to practice more (much more...) I'll maybe get something together and PM it though for a critique. Still not run through the whole thing in one go, so need to get my act together (literally in this case!)

hope you do make it bigger DD, been there and know its not for me, became comfortable with my size a long time ago, the joys of being an old fart & wisdom
Always wanted to be lean and big- the two never seem to happen at the same time though!LordGrover said:
Compared with your squat and deads, that bent over row looks heavy.
Keep at it, DOMS are all part of the fun!
The squats were just to try and stretch things out a bit after I trained legs Monday, having not done again for a few weeks. Obviously I went straight back in as normal Keep at it, DOMS are all part of the fun!
And I love the DOMS, it was just getting a bit silly. Even the OH has been wtf I did to be hobbling so much
They're feeling a bit better today and I now just have a nice all over pain...

DD, what is your cardio routine?
500 cals on the stationary bike every day (mostly fasted in the morning if I can)- that's it... sometimes fast, other times a bit slower, depends how I feel, just however long it takes. Also a brisk 2.5 mile walk each working day at lunchtime.Johnny said:
