Well, had my date with Fran this morning. Ended up using 30kg rather than 40 for the thrusters. Managed to finish in 11:28. The chins were brutal! That's actually a lot better than I had anticipated.

Bit meh today. Tried as hard as I usually do, but didn't feel it so much, felt like I was just going through the motions.. perhaps mind was too focused on work..

Bench Press - 8 sets of 12-5 reps
Incline Bench Press - 4 sets of 12-8 reps
DB Pullovers - 4 sets of 12-8 reps

Wide grip Pull Ups (Behind head):
4 sets of 6-5 reps (no resistance band - damn these are hard!)
3 sets of 10 (resistance band)

BB BOR - 4 sets of 12-8 reps
Deadlift - 3 sets of 10, 6 and 4 reps (felt weak..)
Reverse grip Pull Ups - 2 sets of 10 reps

Superb! That is quite some weight, well over three times my bodyweight!

Here is a link to an 'Age adjusted performance standard' chart. Not sure of the accuracy, but I thought it quite interesting...

http://www.kilgoreacademy.com/free-resources.html

Plus an article on age, performance and health:

http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf/CFJ_2015_11_A...

Both PDF's...

3 x 10 dips
3 x 10 pull ups
3 x 8 chin ups

10 minute warm up on a spin bike and then a 45 minute spin session.

Pretty knackered after that.

Quick update, circuits at the gym over the weekend - ramped up the rep range up to 60 or 70 a set, mostly on the dips and other bodyweight exercises. Nice to mix things up. Saturday night - hilly bike ride - 45km with 1,000m of climbing, 29kph average. Very windy, pissing with rain, pitch black. Monday was dips and pull-ups at home, yesterday was a huge session on the turbo - average heart rate 175 off a maximum of 190 for 50 minutes.

Tonight a recovery ride on the road, just over an hour, very windy, 400m of climbing, 32kph average followed by some more dips and pull-ups at home.

I've not trained since Monday morning, enforced rest to recover from the last few weeks. Think I'll train tonight and aim for a PB of some kind, maybe a squat. Usually feel pretty strong after a wee rest, so will see how it goes. Think the gym squat record is 302.5kg (beating my previous 300kg) so may go for 305.
Or maybe a deadlift or bench, or something. Or I may not be strong enough for any of them! Be fun finding out though.

Video please! 300kg+ squats just boggle my mind totally.

Two whole days off? You lazy rebel!

Best of luck - don't blow a gasket or spring a leak.

Here's the first (and only) time doing 300kg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqRldtVBflo
Was quite a while back, I'm around the same BW, but carrying a fair bit more muscle. Not been trying to peak, or even training for strength, so I doubt i'll get a PB..... I'll be able to do the first half of the squat easily enough though wink

It's been 3.5 days off! (by the time I train tonight)- feels like forever though, I do not like taking time off....but, sometimes, it's a sensible thing to do. (Last time I did I pulled a 15kg deadlift PB)

That's the first time I've seen you show that the thing you're lifting actually feels heavy!

It felt disgustingly heavy! That's why i'm in two minds if i'm strong enough to try it again...

Would you feel happier with a good spotter each side rather than one behind you, or a sling?

I'd feel happier with no spotter- gives me room to dump it if need be without hurting someone- no way 1 spotters catching it if I drop anyway! Let the catch bars do their job....
