How does that compare to last year? From memory you were around 80-85kg?

Thats some impressive gains over a year if when you get there thumbup
Think I was closer to 89/90 on stage- bottomed out at 86kg depleted and dehydrated in the run up. Weight jumped back up to 95/6kg within 3 days of competing biggrin This year I've a much better idea of what to actually expect and what works/doesn't work

I recall DD, you looked friggin shredded a week before the show. I'm noticing myself how a simple cheat day can make one look a big st the next day due to the water.nits completely understandable that everyone's body behaves differently and it's trial and error. It would have been a fluke if you peaked on the day.

Trained back in Aberdeen mid-week - wasn't feeling great and just ached a lot! So kept the workout light and did some leg press rather than squats. But, my word, my aductors feel prone doing that exercise now!
I feel leg press hits my legs much harder than squats- particularly in the odd places/muscles that squats seem not to use!
My legs used to be 'bullet proof' to injury doing leg press but now squats are much safer for muscle pulls/ tears. I have done sets of 10 with 500kg to good depth in the past but now 300kg on the same machine (albeit for 20 reps) feels like I'm on the cusp of an aductor going. I've also torn my quad before on leg press - a singularly horrific sensation (sort of like bubbles bursting inside the muscle)!

But I agree, when I could put my all into them, they were a phenomenal quad exercise!

Arms and shoulders today. Was tougher than usual, but I think I pushed myself more than usual, as I felt knackered before even starting..

BB Clean (from floor) and Press:
3 sets of 8 reps
3 sets of 5/5/3 reps (up to 75kg)

Low Pulley Lat Raises - 4 sets of 12-8 reps (up to an unbelievable 11kg! lol)
Wide Grip Upright Row - 3 sets of 10, 6 & 4 reps

BB EZ Curls (strict, wide grip) - 4 sets of 11-8 reps
Narrow Grip Bench Press - 4 sets of 12-5 reps (up to 87.5kg - hands 6" apart)
Incline DB alternate Curl - 4 sets of 12-8 reps
Triceps Rope Push Downs - 4 sets of 8 reps
Wrist Curl - 4 sets of 12 reps

Dead....

16 miles on the road bike @16.6mph. Quite a few PRs, again most climbs in the big ring. Feels like my legs are coming back.

Was planning on the gym this afternoon but think the wife's cold/flu has finally got me so spent it in bed watching cycling and films, with lemsip.

Anyone seen this? I have no idea of the veracity, but it's interesting all the same.

https://symmetricstrength.com/

In other news, my training is currently "self-regulated" which is another way of saying I'm just doing whatever I feel like. Lots of box jumps, lots of supersets and high reps, things to get my heart rate up. Lots of variations on the main movements. Enjoying it at the moment. Just need to give me back a proper rest.

In other other news, my Inzer belt arrived today! Sweet jesus it's stiff. I suspect some damage to occur to my flesh soon.

Still, if your aim is 100kg stage ready then thats an additional 10kg of muscle in just over a year eek thats really going some, even good genes on a beginers training would dstruggle to get anywhere near that nevermind after years of training and progress slowing. Impressed if you pull it off thumbup

10KG in a single year for an experienced lifter is huge! What is your strategy to get the extra mass?

PVApour, looking good in the instagram shots dude! smile

Legs and lower back yesterday, and today was chest and back.

First time I have managed to get 50 wide grip pull ups (bringing neck behind bar) in 4 sets, the first set being 16 reps! Perseverance does pay off, just after Xmas, I could barely do one!

Today, I thought I'd try to superset the pull ups with Bench Press - pull ups didn't suffer at all, but Bench did slightly, but certainly shaved some time off the workout.

Superset:
Wide grip Pull Ups - 4 x 16-10 reps
Bench Press - 4 x 10-5reps

Incline Bench Press - 4 sets of 12-7 reps
BB BOR - 4 sets of 12-8 reps
DB Pullovers - 4 sets of 16-10 reps

Rack Pulls - 4 sets of 5 reps

Hanging upside down DB Rows - 2 sets of 12 reps (weird feeling..)

This evening good heavy session at the gym, feeling nice and strong at the moment, quite pleased with my condition. Last night hilly hour and a bit on the bike, 33.5kph average, legs felt really strong. Continuing to enjoy my training, pull ups and dips still going strong at home. I've decided that 44 is the new 24!

Shoulders for me!

6 x 15 sets of lateral raises
3 x 8 sets of shoulder press
3 x 12 sets of machine rear delt fly's
3 x 15 sets of front delt raises

My shoulders have grown very well from using a lot less weight and more reps.

Great work- no where near max effort either by the looks of it! - 350/150 looks to be there i'd guess.

Bit of lat spread practice from last night after back: https://www.instagram.com/p/BD30BKRrq1T/?
Still too fat to have a lot of detail, but definitely progressing in the right direction and pretty happy with shoulder to waist ratio- starting to look more like an actual bodybuilder biggrin

Decided to hit some posing at the end of every session now, would really like to make them second nature before I next compete.

I had a go at 350, everyone started cheering before I even finished because if the speed off the ground laugh
Unfortunately it caught the bottom of my knee and stopped me dead, tried to fight it but was stuck there. Got a lovely bruise from it too.
350 is there for another time though, I have plans for 380 at a comp in October now biggrin

Thought I'd try for a new PB on Clean and Press today..

Clean and Press:
5x5 (up to 70kg)
1x2 with 75kg
1x1 with 80kg
1x1 with 85kg - used everything I had, including involuntary shouting when (slowly) pushing the bar up to lockout.
Was very pleased with that - although my vision darkened a lot when bringing the bar back to shoulders, and then I couldn't feel a thing! I just managed to walk forward slightly and rack the bar. Very dizzy for a few seconds, a little scary, in fact. But it didn't last..

Then the mundane..

Low Pulley Lat Raises - 4 sets of 14-10 reps
Wide Grip Upright Row - 3 sets of 10, 6 & 4 reps
Standing BB (EZ) Curls (wide grip, strict) - 4 sets of 10-7 reps
Close grip bench - 4 sets of 12-6 reps
Triceps Rope Push Downs - 4 sets of 10-8 reps
Incline DB alternate Curls - 4 sets of 12-8 reps
Wrist Curls - 4 sets of 12 reps

My arms have been 16" for months now, I cannot seem to get them to grow any bigger, am using more weight, going beyond failure, more reps/drop sets etc. It seems they are just stuck at this size. Have they reached the limit of their natural growth potential? I can't see that after only 23 months. Everything else is getting bigger!
