Never! I've had a cold for 2 weeks and still going strong.

today was>

BB row (with 150kg)
Rack pulls (with 260kg)
Inverted rows
1 arm cable rows
Wide pull ups
BB curl
Preacher curl SS cable hammer curl
Reverse BB curl SS wrist curl

First time rack pulling for a while, pain free, felt great.

I think we all feel like this from time to time - once day you feel great and really crush it, and the next workout it feels like someone's zapped all of your strength and energy, even if your diet is completely on-point!

OK, I have had this cold for almost a week now, I was going to try and do a session today, so I only miss one workout this week. but TBH, I still feel very crappy, and concede that I would probably do myself more harm than good. But missing workouts is a horrible feeling too...

I think you know the answer to this dude wink

Take a break, nothing good very often comes from training when you've got the cold / flu.

Unlike ORD, I don’t believe you are overtraining per-se, but equally, you need to take a step back sometimes and make tactical decisions smile

I take a break when I no longer feel the urge to train, and it starts to become a chore. A few days off fixes that. 10-14 weeks of pushing hard usually gets me into the CBA zone, which usually coincides with a cold/flu, loss of appetite and a coldsore.

If I have a cold, but still want to train, I crack on- it's when my drive stops that I know to back off.

I'm only playing. I've never seen any science to back up the concept of 'overtraining' but people and bodies do get tired and need rests.

I think my problem was/is that I had this goal in my head that I would try for a 190kg DL before Christmas. It is very difficult to shake these little goals out of my head once I feel committed to them, and I know what needs to be done before trying new PB's (and it isn't having time off). But I kinda feel beat at this point, and now realise I have to put it on hold for a week or so, as I will need another week to just to get back up to speed.. Dammit.

...if he dies....he dies biggrin

I think a deadlift PB is much more a mental thing anyway, provided it's within reach it's usually a mental black that stops you managing.

disclaimer- if you snap, I'm not responsible!

Really good last few days of exercise Last night - 35km on the turbo trainer warming up (Zwift) got off the turbo, did my dips and pull ups, and then back onto the turbo for a race on Zwift which I won; however subsequently was disqualified from, for exceeding the power limit for the race. Really enjoyable though. This afternoon to the gym, weighted dips, weighted pull ups and some arm work, finished up with a bench press of 142kg for 2 reps which is a rep PR. Reckon if I had not exhausted myself on the weighted dips, a 145kg was definitely in the reckoning. Bodyweight sits at 79.5kg and my body fat is I'm guessing slightly north of 11 or 12 percent.

230kg 5x3 15" axle deadlift. Feeling stronger each week at this height.
Followed by 200kg x10 speed reps off the floor. A kind of challenge that's going round in a group, I was surprised at how quick they moved and how easy it was biggrin
I'm hoping I'm building up to something big now.
https://youtu.be/bJm2eedrToc
140x6x3 yates row
100x6 bent over row
Lat pull downs
Hammer curls
Reverse axle curl (forearm killer!)

I'm feeling really good at the moment which is nice laugh

Proper tough day today - 15km warm up on the turbo in preparation for my Zwift race, then it was 62km of Zwifting which took just about 1.5 hrs. Probably the most uncomfortable 90 minutes in a very long time - finished totally exhausted. Happy with my effort though. Took a little while to recover, then popped to the gym for an evening session. Have to confess felt a litre bit flat but pleased I made the effort. Tomorrow will be a group ride on the road (recovery) then gym in the evening with my daughter, with a possible crack at my bench PR.

I can imagine you pissing off on your bike for a 30km ride, bookended with 200 pull ups and dips before (and after) Christmas dinner! hehe
