What training are you doing/have you done today? Vol.2
Discussion
Well it's recovery week for me as well, haven't had a day off from exercise since Christmas day. Started to feel slightly fatigued over the weekend, my sessions on the bike have been pretty brutal for the last 6 or 7 weeks - 3,000km since January 1st and have lost quite a bit of weight so I will ride every day but with pretty low intensity. So the emphasis this week will be on eating and sleeping.
Ride from earlier this evening, a little quicker than intended.

Morning all.
Had a catch up and it seems everyone is killing it and/or injured Top work all round!
Couldn't post in this thread for some reason but seem to have sorted it now.
Had a couple of weeks off work and spent the first partying pretty hard for my 42nd.
Second involved some training but more recovery/sleep to catch up from the week prior!
Had a light (60kg, 5x10) bench/squat/deads session at the start of last week to get back into thing and it did me. Literally. You'd have thought I'd never seen a gym before the way I ached in the days after!
tried a more local council run gym with the wife later in the week. Wasn't too impressed tbh and saw some of the worst PTing I can recall. Not for me.
Legs, well squats, for an hour up to multiple sets of 4@120kg Sunday AM.
Chest yesterday, bench up to 90, incline up to 80. Happy considering.
Still got some bicep/shoulder pain in the right arm but seem to be managing it ok for now.
Need to start getting some running cardio in for TM.
Assuming I can stay further injury free and sort the arm out I'm back on it for the next few months.

Pulled my lat again!
Didn't film second set which I should have know in hindsight, first rep felt it pull.
Been playing with form, belt positioning etc still and it's moving quicker now.

No bruising so hopefully just a strain and quick recovery.
Not ideal timing, Thursday I'm PBing on overhead, the first rep being a PB itself!

You lift that like I lift 120kg! Very impressive speed strength (I think that's the term).
Thanks. I'm more explosive on deadlift unlike DD who is a master grinder and can finish the slowest of lifts. I seem to give up when it slows down.
I also cannot grind out pulls ups, but I think that's true for pretty much everyone. I go from 'this is easy' to 'cannot make it' with bugger all in between.

For me, albeit at much lower weights, it differs from one exercise to the next. I can slow down horribly with the bench press or squats & still complete the movement, but I cannot deadlift slowly. Maybe it's because the lift is still very new to me, but it's either easy or doesn't happen.

I'm exactly the same, usually it's why a max doesn't look like my max. I also cannot grind out pulls ups, but I think that's true for pretty much everyone. I go from 'this is easy' to 'cannot make it' with bugger all in between.

I've seen a few of your max lifts and thought to myself "no way was that a max!"
I'm an inherently explosive lifter, so when I hit anything approaching a wall, it tends to halt things quite rapidly
I think I fall between the two extremes to an extent. I can grind if my mind is in it. That is, sometimes my mind will just say "nope" and that's the end of it.
Other times I'm right in the zone and can hold onto it.
Frustratingly, I can't seem to easily get into that state of mind where I can ignore the wall. Having said that, even my best (worst?!) grinds have been nothing like diddely's

Same with me on the pull ups, I can either do a rep or not, no in-between.I also cannot grind out pulls ups, but I think that's true for pretty much everyone. I go from 'this is easy' to 'cannot make it' with bugger all in between.
There's an element of injury prevention in it. It's subconscious, at least mostly, but I definitely give up sooner on exercises where I don't trust the muscles / joints. Bench is fine because my shoulders and chest have never given me trouble, whereas I don't trust my upper back so much (having had neck trouble).
