Are you sure this isnt a one-way ticket to overtraining / muscle loss? It seems a bit like overkill to me.
Well it's all journeys through life isn't it, figuring out what works.
I have certain criteria; lose fat, retain muscle, up my tank. Running is currently out so my training is hampered by an ankle niggle. After some perusing, on the best ways to achieve all three (T-Nation is my fave), I thought I'd give the hard circuit a whizz, and thus far, it appears to be working.
https://www.t-nation.com/training/the-7-best-worko...
Currently in a calories deficit. Weight/mirror appears to be going the way I want it, today's ammonia sweat means I pushed too hard for the fuel I had. I think BCAA will fix that. It also means I can keep the weight low, and the intensity high. Once my 10k is out of the way, I'll put cals back at maintenance, maybe have some pics taken, and revalue where I am and what I want...but have to say, I do really love these circuits.
It's nice to see that other big guys just don't have the tank to keep up. biggrin
.. And Summer's just around the corner!

All good points. If it's working, it's working!

Found out this morning that the MRI confirmed that I have torn my tendon off, got a bit left on the humorous and will need surgery if I want it back to full strength.
Not going to lie, I'm stting it a bit, only because of my weight and increased risks because of it :/
Sounds same as me. You have my commiserations.
They are willing to operate?

Nah, they said what was left was enough for my existence (or something), and I wasn't sure if I should push it. He didn't wanna go in and fiddle, since I have some left which I can still use, and he didn't wanna mess with the the muscle fibres for ascetics either. If I win the lotto or a big part, I may get it loooked at later.

You make a good point. The NHS won't spend money if it thinks you're only having the procedure to lift heavy weights and not to function day to day. 'you' might want to explain that you can't dress, wash etc without assistance if you catch my drift. wink

Shame about that Smiffy. Hoping it is sorted swiftly.

In the gym for 0715 today. Always a nice crowd early. (Yeah, she's fit!)

Military Press 2x10@20, 3x10@40kg, 3x6@50kg
Superset:
EZ Bar Upright Rows 5x10@30kg/Front Raises 5x10@15kg Barbell
Arnold Press 5x8@20kg
Rear Delt Flys 5x10/side @14kg
Single Arm DB Hang Clean & Press 5x10/side@20kg
Superset:
Smith Shrugs 5x10@80kg/ Lat Raises 5x8@10kg

Lat Raises 5x10@6kg for the pump, minimal rest

Feeling good still. Miltary Press is a sticking point so will keep it light and sensible.

Everything else felt great.

That's interesting, I only had to nag for a scan, the surgery was offered straight away! Although I did say I was a professional athlete hehe
You could play on it if you want it although depending on the time scale I've no idea when it's too late?

Well, I hope you make a quick recovery and surgery isn't too painful, Smiffy!

Today:

Dialled it back on the squats this week, as I have had a dull ache in my lower back for a while, which I want to try and make go away. So this week, I dropped back the weight and did 5x5's, but with very little rest in-between sets, so those 8 sets took 12 minutes:

Squat: - 3xwarm up sets and then 4x5 with 125 and 1x5 with 130kg (Will do 4x5 with 130 and 1x5 with 135 on Monday, and so on..)

Bench Press - 7x12-5 reps up to 120kg
Dips - 4x30-18 res

High Pull - 5x10-5 reps
Power Clean - 8x5-2 reps
Push Press - (warm up standing press first and then-) 5x8-1 rep - I felt good with 95kg, so I tried 100kg - It seemed my bod wasn't ready for that yet. Lost my balance with the initial push and screwed it up. Still, no harm done, I think...

Wide Grip Pull Ups - 4x12-8 reps
T-Bar Rows - 4x12-8 reps
Seated Pulley Row - 4x12-9 reps

Some really good sessions on the bike this week, concentrating more on intensity rather than endurance - good leg strength. Gym this afternoon, again a good session rather than great, nice pump though. Found this old photo from about two and a half years ago when I was a few weeks into my experimental keto diet - yeah, look pretty ripped I think.
