Following on from my thread on PCOS and the mrs being told she would never have children.....
I found out last week that Mrs SF is ~13 weeks pregnant!!!
We genuinely had no idea, her periods stopped in March, we assumed this was just her PCOS playing up again as it has been known to.
Well, long story short, she was feeling very "unwell" last week. I was laying in the bath, she came in and complained she felt sick, conversation went a little like this:
Me: Why not just do a pregnancy test, just to rule that out?
Her: No point, im broken
Me: JUST DO IT!
Her: Ok
So she did the test in front of me, looked at it and couldn't stop shaking. I accuse her of pulling my leg....
Apparently not!!!
We saw the midwife last Friday and it is confirmed we are expecting
It hasn't sunk in yet as we weren't "trying" but we weren't taking active measures to stop it happening.... no pressure that way, whatever happens... happens!
To say I am over the moon is a massive understatement.
We have the "13 week" scan next Wednesday, however, if our calculations are right it will actually be around the 15 week mark.
Sorry for the long post, I am bubbling with excitement and the Mrs is absolutely over the moon, albeit with a little trepidation due to past experiences.... I think the scan will definitely help that out.

Not fun! I've been lucky not to get a lot of nausea, plenty of other up and downs though. Signed off work this week .
My sister whose had 3 kids told me I should enjoy every bit of my pregnancy, the good and the bad as I'm so lucky that I am carrying a life!! "I reminded her I knew this esp after miscarrying last yr and several other issues) it's a good job she lives in Australia right now!! Not sure why I can't be grateful to be carrying a healthy baby but still feel fed up that I'm struggling with it!

Everything alright?
Sorry, yes all is great, thanks. Forgot I had posted on this thread as I was a bit, err, distracted at the time! Harrison was born at 03:14 on June 15th (Father's Day), weighing in at 7lb 14oz. He's three weeks old tomorrow and is doing brilliantly, having put on a stack of weight already. God bless boobs. He looks literally exactly the same as I did in the summer of 1987. Looking back through my parents' old photos the likeness is scary! Quite amazing. Debbie (t' wife) is doing so, so well with him. I couldn't wish for more from either of them.
On a more PH note, my MINI is useless. A two-seater car is no use. I want to go places as a family, not on my own! Oh look, the Nissan GT-R has ISOFIX...

I'm not surprised, I am 22 weeks now, had a scare at 16 weeks which was stressful enough, I have no idea how I'd be in your situation, it was hard enough discovering I'd miscarried at a 12wk scan last yr and that is an expected for things to go wrong.
It sounds like you really are getting the best care, wishing you, your wife and bump all the best.

Q. update.
Surgery went well.
Minimum 3-4 week stay in hospital now with complete bed rest. Not much fun, but doable.
Really glad surgery went well. 3-4 weeks in hospital gets you near as damnit to a survivable gestation, albeit not exactly an easy ride - I'll be hoping hard for a smooth and restful couple of months for all THREE of you. Surgery went well.

Good to read its working out for people on here.
My wife is 32 weeks tomorrow. Baby's room is now decorated, most stuff bought and the big delivery of cot/buggy etc. due next week. Last trip away (only to Scotland) this weekend. Seeing him wriggling in her belly and being able to touch him is utterly fascinating.
All going ok so far (frantically touches wood), but getting rather real, my sister gave birth to our nephew last year at 34 weeks. After having been together for 17 years and trying for a good few too, it's all rather exciting.

Second go at getting all the measurements from the 20 week scan, still didn't get all the measurements so a third go is required the annoying bit is it seems to be confirming something obvious ( they couldn't see the stomach bubble but everything else was good or appears so). Looks like it's a son this time.
Mrs Hoddo is 15 weeks and expecting twins. She suffered chronic sickness from around week 5 and it only seems to be getting worse (HG has been confirmed). We were in hospital yesterday as she bought up blood in her usual morning production of bile. NHS were brilliant and quickly assured us that the babies are in good health
Any tips from the masses as to what she could do to alleviate the symptoms? She spends her days being sick, trying to sleep, sleeping and eating small amounts of food. She was prescribed sickness tablets which after a week only made her more sick.

Nothing truly 'fixes' it. For the most part she will have to endure. My wife was finally through with it at around 19 weeks.Any tips from the masses as to what she could do to alleviate the symptoms? She had 'premperan' suppositories (active ingredient metoclopramide) - these took the edge off, but didnt complete stop the sickness. The also have the side effect of making you very sleepy, so work/driving etc go quickly out of the window. Oral tablets are no good, as they obviously come back out fairly quickly!
For the most part its a case of finding your own way. My wife found that having a piece of toast with jam before she got out of bed helped as it would settle the stomach, she would then take a pill, and after another 40 mins or so could get out of bed.
She also visited a psychologist / hypnotherapy and learnt some deep breathing techniques for when she felt the need to barf.
Sweet fruit teas and plenty of water. On bad days she drank coca-cola, as apparently bile sick tastes better when its coca-cola in it.
Watch her hydration and nutrition levels. My Mrs. had to spend 10 days in hospital on a drip, as at one point she lost 8kgs in a week and had ketones in her blood. She has only just reached her pre-pregnancy weight again now at 22wks 2 days.
Good luck, its rotten, but you will get there. For the vast majority of women it eases down at 18-20wks.
She also lost a great deal of weight, being twins she is expanding rapidly, but her arms and legs are still showing signs of being underweight. Hopefully we will turn a corner soon.
Our daughter is just over 3 months and is brilliant. It's so much more fun now her personality is starting to come through.
She's just discovered how to roll over onto her front in the last week so is doing it all the time. This morning she managed to roll back onto her back again as well.
Won't be long until she's crawling which is when the 'fun' is really going to start.
